Thread: Shoppers optimum card inactive issue
-
Fri, Jan 8th, 2016, 02:09 PM #1
All of sudden I can't use my shoppers points card anymore. I called shoppers customer service, they told me my card has technical issues, they are not sure how long will take them to solve the issue. I have almost half million points inside my card, which worth $800 value. Does anyone has these issues? I'm so worried they may took my points away.

can you get a new card & do a points transfer? I would not want to lose them either.

That's why I don't hoard points...
SDM can be unreasonable sometimes. If you didn't do anything wrong they can't take away your points.

Well, there was a glitch that I'm sure they are aware of by now. Best thing to do if this may pertain to you or affect you is not to call or email about anything. If you don"t get points for a purchase, return the purchase. Just my advice. I hope everything works out okay!

Something similar happened to me this September when I was overseas. I stopped getting email offers and my card was frozen when I returned to Canada.. I inquired 2x and it wasn't until the second time they told me about suspicious shopping behaviour....because instead if buying something on 20x day, I did 10 of spend $75 get 18500 points.....as I did not have a 20x coupon and needed that purchase at that time. They said I was not buying normal household quantities. I told them that if they looked closely at my spending trends they would see I bought the exact same amount of items every 3 months for the last 6 years (diabetic supplies). I told them if my card was not active by the end of the week I was calling the president of SDM - my card was not active for a month. My card did get activated per my timelines.
If you have nothing to hide I don't see why you shouldn't call to have it corrected. They likely have programs that look for suspicious shopping behaviors but they should deal with it before putting cards on hold.

Only at SDM , other store would be glad that a customer spent $750 in 1 trip.
