question about gift cards at Metro

Hi,

I bought the la vie en rose gift card this morning at Metro.

I saw on the metro receipt that it says : "Will be activated within 24 hrs. If you attempt to redeem or do a balance inquiry before 24 hours, card may become void."

I want to use the gift card this afternoon because I need to get the item today. Does anyone know if there will be a problem if I try to buy something with the gift card? (i.e. I want to use the gift card on the same day I got it).

I would wait until tomorrow. There is a very good chance that the card will not yet be active. Same case with most cards you purchase at any store. I purchased a Mastercard gift card and it was not active the same day. Safest bet would be to wait until tomorrow. You can always call the Customer Service number provided to find out forsure though.

I purchased a Best Buy gift card from Fortinos with the same stipulation. I waited the 24 hours because I didn't think it was worth voiding the card and losing the $50.

Can you call La Vie En Rose and ask them to hold the item for you for another day? Or get a friend or relative to put it on hold if your hold has expired? Ask to speak with the floor manager and explain the situation.

thanks for all the comments and advice. i read the back of the La Vie en Rose gift card and it says "activated right away and can be used the same day" (not exact wording). I asked the cashier and they said it was okay so I took the chance and the gift card worked! yay!
