How pharmaceuticals are both turning a population into zombies and killing us at a not-so-slow pace. disturbing-but-amazing-pictures-expose-the-absurdities-of-modern-culture-warning-graphic-images10 The Times analysis of 2009 death statistics showed: •For the first time ever in the US, more people were killed by drugs than motor vehicle accidents •37,485 people died from drugs, a rate fueled by overdoses on prescription pain and anxiety medications, versus 36,284 from traffic accidents •Drug fatalities more than doubled among teens and young adults between 2000 and 2008, and more than tripled among people aged 50 to 69 These facts are based off of legal prescription drug statistics. An estimated 450,000 preventable medication-related adverse events occur in the U.S. every year. The costs of adverse drug reactions to society are more than $136 billion annually — greater than the total cost of cardiovascular or diabetic care. Looking over records from 1976 to 2006, researchers found 62 million death certificates related to prescription drugs, almost a quarter-million of these deaths were coded as having occurred in a hospital setting due to medication errors. How is this considered normal? These pictures do a fantastic job at getting you thinking about widely-accepted yet absurd facets of our world today. Boy's Parents Blamed as Anger Mounts Over Killing of Cincinnati Zoo Gorilla
Socail media has blamed the parents of a boy who fell into the gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo - forcing staff to shoot and kill the rare 400-lb animals.

As zoo officials explained that they had no alternative but to take the reluctant decision to kill the animal, a wave of outrage and anger began to focus on the unidentified parents of the four-year-old, who was captured on video in the ape’s enclosure.

New Child Benefit Could Pose Headaches For Divorced Couples
Conservative MP Lisa Raitt is warning the Trudeau government's new child benefit could cause endless headaches for divorced couples.

The Liberals' new $23-billion a-year benefit will replace three different programs on July 1st with one income-tested payment to families each month.

But unlike with the benefits being replaced, Raitt says the new initiative doesn't give guidance about how divorced parents can split tax deductions, or calculations of spousal support payments.

How could the Zoo officials have taken such a drastic action? They could have tranquilized him instead of killing him. Having watched the video several times, at no point does the gorilla show any aggressive behaviour. If anything, he was trying to help the boy. My bigger question is how the parents allowed this event to happen? This is a travesty and the parents should be held totally responsible for this unnecessary killing of an animal listed as an endangered species.

    Nice day today!

Missed the three songs yesterday, darn but had to go out around 2 p.m. Would have at least liked the chance to try....

I agree about the gorilla of course, people are just way to quick to kill animals, he hadn't hurt the kid who should never have gotten in there but of course he paid with his life which was being lived in captivity, the other gorillas must be pretty paranoid and sad after that..........

I agree also with you guys. They should have just tranquilized the gorilla not killed him. The parents should have definitely been watching their son more responsibly. To kill an endangered animal is a sin as far as I'm concerned.

Tranquilizing was thought of before shooting it. The gorilla was behaving in a motherly fashion until it was noticed the 4 yr old rodent was in the pen. People started yelling & screaming which scared the gorilla, causing it to act aggressively towards the rodent. Tranquilizing doesn't work in in a couple of seconds, it would have taken 15 mins or more for the gorilla to fall asleep & authorities were worried the gorilla would get more aggressive after being shot a few times & the rodent's safety was in question. While i am not happy with the outcome, i do understand why they did what they did. The parents should have kept a much better watch over the rodent, as well as the zoo had much too easy access to the cages. This should have never happened.

Good evening everybody! I hope Monday was ok. One day done and four left until the weekend...then more Game of Thrones...

Does anyone else find the series more intriguing since they've gone "beyond the books"?

I heard all that too h-team but maybe they should have moved all those people out of the way, the gorilla would likely not done anything to the child, his life should matter too, he didn't ask for his situation in any way, shape or form...it is all humans who made his life the way it is and the parents fault who didn't watch their child.....and again he didn't do anything...............whatever he is dead now.............
