I have to suggest that PPL please try submitting the freebie before posting it.
This way you will know if the URL works, if it is expired or not.
and example is the Pantine freebie..
this has been posted on every freebie site out there including this one w/ the same results..you post your info and it keeps trying to download something so many times that you have to ctrl, alt, del out of your browser to get it to quit. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Just a suggestion...Given that most of the freebies take 2 -8 weeks or more to show up, and by the time that it gets posted it might be expired/ might have run out of samples, could we maybe have two separate sections on the board? Maybe one for freebies that are guaranteed to show up, and one for freebies that haven't been tested yet. Or maybe even just put that info in the title of the post?...Or possibly, upon re-reading the original post the suggestion is that we wait to post a freebie until we have tried the url, not actually wait until we've received the freebie?

And also, don't be so eager to post a freebie that you forget to check for REPEAT posts (REPOSTS) first.
Freebie posting should also have a protocol where 1) the free item description and 2) the name of the company offering the item are listed. That will help people searching for repeat freebies.

Hi Cathy27!
Yes what cndlady is suggesting is that people test the freebie url prior to posting it in the forum to ensure its a good link. Sometimes the url's themselves do not load, the link can be expired, or as was the case with the Panteene sample the form just won't submit. If you try and order the sample before posting it and everything goes through fine, you know its a working link (whether the freebie actually comes or not is another story )

Exactly Prue.. that was what was meant..we have been getting a lot of dead forms that won't submit, or dead links.

guess I should have worded that post a little a better
We all hope for a freebie when we send for it..but to wait until it is proven to post it most would be long gone.
making sure that the URL is actually working is the best we can hope for.
Also putting the name of the company in the post along w/ what you sending for would help w/ searching for a freebie
IE: Head and Shoulders - Shampoo Sample.
This way if you search for head and shoulder or shampoo it should show up in the seach
This would also work good w/ contest entries
IE Dempsters - $250 shopping spree
