My Walmart has had plenty of clearance Reactine lately. (Not so much since I've been there!)
Bonus packs of 20 + 20 (40) are 7.00 and 48 + 3 + 3 + 3 (57) are 10.00.
When I was there the other day, I only had 2 x $2 off coupons (I didn't know about the printable coupons at the time), so I got 6 packs of the 40s minus 2 x $2 for 38.00 total. that's 240 pills for 38.00, ~16c per pill.
When I found out about the printable coupons, I went back for 3 x 40s and 1 x 57 minus 2.50 x 4, which was 21.00 for 177 pills, ~12c per pill.
Normally I get 72 Exact brand cetrizine hydrochloride (which is what Reactine is... Exact is the cheapest generic brand I've ever found) for 17.00 or so, which equals out to ~24c per pill, so this Reactine deal is a huge deal for me. I want to compare the usual price of Reactine, only I don't know the usual price off the top of my head and it's not in any ads this week, so I'll go with a price I found out an online Canadian drugstore: 48 Reactine pills = 32.99, or ~69c per pill. The smallest box you can buy, 10 pills, is 9.99, or $1 per pill. And if that isn't the worst you can imagine (well... the worst *I* can imagine... but clearly I'm fanatical about it), consider other allergy medicines such as Aerius, Allegra, and Claritin which break the $1 mark. Just for kicks: if we assume that 48 Reactine normally costs $33 and I got 417, the total regular cost of what I got would've been over $285. Forgetting taxes (which would dramatically increase the difference), the amount I saved with this deal was over 226.00. My chest, throat, eyes, and the rest are saved for another year (expiry is July 2010 and January 2011, btw).
(The reason I bought so many is that I have cat allergies + 7 cats. I have to take these daily, which really adds up. I went to the trouble of figuring the math out because I don't think I've ever bothered to do it and was curious.)This thread is currently associated with: WalmartLast edited by htebxbeth; Sun, Feb 22nd, 2009 at 01:58 AM.

I just want to add that I've been patiently waiting and searching ads for over a year, in hopes of finding such a deal. Faithfully (and obsessively), every week, I would head to the pharmacy section of the Superstore ad, only to be disappointed when my deal wasn't there... not even $1 off. So, sad as it is, this is big for me.

Final thought: Now that I've conquered this ultimate goal of a Reactine deal, I think I need a new deal to seek for. Any ideas? I'm quite desperate for a bike at the moment... maybe that could be it? Strike that, I'm desperate enough to give in to a minor deal and not wait for an ultimate deal. I'll have to think about it...

the coupon is at reactine.ca. click on the coupon link and say that you've never tried reactine before. that gets you the 2.50 coupon. if you say you have tried it before or that you use it all the time, you'll get a 1.00 coupon.

My son uses the reactine and I buy the extra strength ones for him and then cut them in half. He usually can get away with 1/2 and if he is still have a hard time he takes another 1/2. I got him 2 of the 72 packs the end of last season for $8 each on clearance. I think they were changing the packages.
You didn't say if these packs are regular strength or extra strength.

I was able to buy 2 of the reactine kind and I use the claratin (loredane?) and I got one of those 72 packs for $8.25. I wish they would do that again. I have enough of the reactine but I need more of the other kind. Oh well.
