I understand all the deductions except for the SDM redemption - how do you get 170 redemption at SDM??

Saw the other thread now with the SDM redemption - sorry about that question, but now I have another one

Will that really work though since it does say 'offer valid on the purchase total of eligible products after discounts and redemptions and before taxes.'? I would love to know if it actually work the way you figured it out. I'm certainly impressed with all the thought that went into it and kudos (not to mention all the free stuf - lol) if it does work.

(Haven't even looked at the flyer closely yet).

I realize that some of these deals are not the best of deals out there, but none-the-less--they will ALL end up being free.
(not to mention the free Movie passes and free $10.00 gift card)

Last time they had this combo promo(points and passes)--I was able to get 4 movie passes--2 for each $75.00 spent. That was only at one location--the other would not honour that--they only gave my Mom one set.

    10.00 (5) pepsi (2L bottles) or 4 --6 pack bottles
    6.00 (2) tostitos
    4.00 (1) (salsa)

    3.00 (1) $3.00 Pampers
    --------------------------------

Just went through my flyer and noticed that in order to use the Stayfree coupons, the deal must be made on Saturday (they expire Jan. 31/09) which would mean that the Head'n Shoulders would not be on sale yet. It would cost $1.00 more per bottle. To keep my total at the same, I could easily change the Head'n shoulders for Janes nuggets and still use $1.00 off coupons and get 2X the points for the nuggets ****The Perfect 10 will also bring in another 10X the points for that product**** Win win either way.
Way to go LIZ!!!!!! I LOVE your plan....very smart!

    Holy. Cow.
Definitely let us know how you made out. I can't even ask any questions, I'm kind of overwhelmed. Good luck! And I hope you get a good cashier!

They first charge taxes on the full total amount of purchases, then deduct coupns from pre-tax subtotal, then deduct bonus redemption amount.

I make an effort to bring the subtotal as close to the allowable redemption amount which is $170.00. My total is $172 ish . The coupons bring the subtotal down to $172.00. If I were to use bigger value coupons on this order it would not work out. Unlike, at Walmart--Shoppers computer system will not deduct more than the subtotal amount, that's why the taxes have to be paid.
Does that make sense?? I know what I mean--does anyone else?? It's hard to put down on paper.

Hate to point this out, but the bonus redemption is not found in my
SDM flyer, and I am in Ottawa, Ontario?

Another question is, assume all coupons don't have "one coupon per transaction" restrictions?

The bonus redemption is not in the flyer. You can view it on line by checking out threads posted in the deals section.

The coupons that I'm planning to use do not state "one coupon per transcation". (I've only come across one coupon in all my days of collecting and redeeming coupons that actually stated (1) per transaction.) I'm sorry that I didn't keep it to use to show cashiers the difference. Some say nothing, and some state "one per purchase". Per purchase is per item. A good example Is the Scott Towels $1.00 off tear away coupon. It says "Limit one coupon per purchase as specified above." ABOVE is: when you buy any one Scott Towels package.--meaning 1 coupon per THAT Scott Towel package you purchase. I've called and discussed this with Shoppers head office. I've also cleared the air about using coupons with Buy 2 get 1 free. You can use the BOGO and then use 1 coupon for each of the items that you are "purchasing" in order to get the freebie. (As long as all of the coupons DO NOT state "cannot be used in conjunction with any other coupon"). The manager at 2 of the SDM in town were telephoned by H.O. and then H.O. called me to state that both stores were made aware of this. Cashiers that have not been well informed or educated about proper coupon redemption still refuse to accept coupons until the manager points out that THEY are wrong. When I called H.O. I specifically asked for the factual response because I was fed up of the differentiating "opinions" of cashiers.

Thank you Liz....this is good to know.....we should have their head office send an email out with that fact so we and print and show it to the managers of the store just in case they decide to argue the fact once again.... just a suggestion.

The part you read about "offer valid on the purchase of eligible products after discounts and redemptions and before taxes" is in reference to the movie passes. Only 1 (*) -- They really should not be giving the passes tom you when you bring your subtotal below $75.00, but most cashiers do not read the fine print in their own flyers. I have always been given the passes when redeeming coupons and bonus SDM points without even having to ask for them.

With the last 2 internet (email) promos the cashiers and even the manager at one of the stores I go to was not aware that the promo was in effect. As I waited at the cash, the manager looked it up on the net to verify it and said that they are not even notified of internet promos, they just hear about them by word-of-mouth. Regardless of the cashiers knowing of the promo, their computer(cash) system is set up to give the bonus redemption.*****(not sure if that applies to all card holders OR just email registered cardholders)*****
