If you managed to file your personal income tax return for the 2020 tax year by April 30, 2021, your new benefits year/amounts start in July.

GST/HST credit-July 5 direct deposit; allow 5 business days after this date for mailed cheques to reach you.

Ontario Tax Benefit-July 10 for direct deposit; allow 5 extra mailing days for cheques.

If you are eligible for tax credits but filed after April 30, your credit mailing/direct deposit date for the first month will be delayed.

If you did not file your personal tax return at all, well you won't receive any eligible tax credits until you file and wait the requisite 6-8 weeks for your notice of assessment, then the later benefits letter/e-mail.

Thanks for the reminder @Ciel21 . Checked and my HST credit goes up handsomely this coming year. OTB still being waited on. The past two years I am told third-ish week of June the status and amount. Expect/Hope it also to go up nicely! More $$$ for cold beverages this summer! HAHA

Agree on the cold beverages *I foresee Pepsi products due to return of summer contest* and cold watermelons. Beyond footwear, my list might include either a new answering machine or small food processor (I watched Jamie Oliver slice salad ingredients in a big one and I want a fast salad with fennel just because).

However, this year I will have to wait longer for my benefits. Since I paused my account info on CRA site, I am assuming I will get cheques as my bank account was closed in April. So it will be an interesting July.

CRA has added a compulsory passcode by phone requirement as part of multi-part authentication. No way to get around if CRA deems you eligible for it

If you have a long message on your answering device/service, chances are the two statements of the 6 digit code might not be recorded. I missed most of the first code so the repeat part, I got all the digits. Think message was about to continue in French?

GST credit only goes up 75 cents for my quarterly payment. Had expected $1 or more.
OTB is $316 (July 9 date shown)
Direct deposit-you have 3 options for updating current info on file. From what I gather, I have stopped payments so unless I provide new/updated bank info, my credit money is likely going to vacation in the CRA account until I get an account. Sigh. Will watch the mailbox to see if there might be a paper payment for each credit in July.

Looks like CRA is making multi-authentication a real thing each time I want to log in. (I understood it as initial one-time need to do it). As our landline was in use when I was trying to access my account, I opted to Exit. This will be a headache, having to time passcode requests with free phone access (or having to tell family not to answer the phone).

@tjthemanto Thanks for the reminder about the lump sum OAS amount. Seems my mother qualifies as she will be 75 later in the year so within the June 2022 time limit.

    Next week. Maybe August 20??

As CCB payment is on August 20.

Sometimes Government likes to give different totally unrelated payments on the same day.

When the bank statement came last week, I checked to see the date of direct deposit for the OAS senior's grant. It was August 16 (Mom hadn't asked in the bank when she did her banking).

New federal statutory holiday on Sept. 30 (National Truth and Reconciliation Day) will affect banks and other federal entities.

*Some retail stores have indicated closures for the holiday i.e. a local olive oil store in Burlington and the Simons department store chain. Check your stores' social media channels and websites for closure notices.*

Oct. 5 is GST/HST Credit day for direct deposits; cheques can take up to 5 business days after that date to arrive.
