Thread: Why do People on here
-
Mon, Mar 23rd, 2009, 09:14 PM #16
yea, seriously I think about 90% of the posting on here is to increase post numbers. seriously, 90% of every thread is a "thank you" which contributes NOTHING and simply adds to the already cluttered boards. also, people tend to keep posting in dead or obviously scam threads, e.g. the danactive offer or the weber bbq grill spatula offer. just let them die, people, so that the top can be reserved for working offers!
I really think the board admin needs to repeal that gift card for posting policy. would really clean up the boards.

But nonlinear has a point! Many of the threads I read are just a whole bunch of thank you's. That's not useful to any of us.

I don't mind the all "thank you"'s but the fact that people bring up old posts. There are 51 pages, there are a lot of expired ones, no need to bring it to the front, let it go to the older pages.
Jaba, SC does offer gifts for posts.Search with Swagbucks http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/Applepie

people say thank you to let the OP know that the deal that they posted is appreciated, not to gain a post. You don't get a gift from SC for posts that are only thank yous - they check! I think only 20% of your qualifying posts are allowed to be thank you posts.

I post Thank You not to increase my number of posts, but to actually thank the person.
If I start a thread I like it when people post thank you, because it makes me feel like I've actually helped people and appreciate the time they take to thank me
Of course if I have some additional/useful info to share I always do that too.
Also by posting something, it helps me quickly and easily keep track of the posts that I've thoroughly read through (and not just quickly opened), because honestly sometimes I can't remember

If anyone comes across a dead thread or dead freebie that I have not noticed, just PM me the link and I will move it, simple as that.

It doesn't bother me, if the link is still valid it makes more sense to post in an old thread than to start a new one.

I think a lot of people on this board would agree with you
most of the people who say thank you say it because they want the person who posted to know that their effort is appreciated.
people also post a thank you for a freebie so that they A. know they have sent for it & B. know when they sent for it so they have some idea when it might be time to start looking for it
in the contest section people post thank yous in single entry contests so that they know the contest has been entered and they won't enter again and be disqualified.
I have seen long time members post weekly and even daily in a contest that they have entered are you accusing them also of posting thank you to increase their post count or is it only the new members that you are accusing of this
since each freebie and each contest is listed individually it really doesn't muck up the board a lot to do this and it makes everyone feel a little better.
this kind of snipping is the reason it took me so long to join the site and the reason it have I never posted before this. Comments like this make new comers to the board afraid to post

Wow, now this is interesting. Have learned a lot. Thank you. However, I do not generally look at the contest site so am seeing the thank you's on other sites.

were almost in april 09 and people bring stuff back from november and december ...
>.<
dead thread.
then its like your looking at posts from way back for no person...
from someone posted"it doesent work" , "oh i missed it"
well duh you have not to be mean was is it really a need to say that?
then people have to look at all the threads when its not needed.

I just read everyones post
IM NOT SAYING DONT SAY THANK YOU TO THE POSTS THAT ARE ACTIVE.
if you read my post its about the old posts that no longe work and peopl post in them and it brings them back to the top....so it mixes in the new ones and the old ones
which it would be nice to just have the ones where you actually get something (since this is a freebie site) and not have to waste your time reading just to find out that the thread was started in 08 or the company is no longer handing it out
AND MOST OF THE TIME ITS SOMETHING LIKE THIS:
"why doesent this work anymore"
"It doesent work"
"page is invaild"
well when its from 08 ...
i wonder why
