My son is in Air Cadets, so I just sent the bags in with him. Here's their info. I'm sure they accept donations year-round. We just tend to think of them more at this time of year.

That is a great idea- As I am sure some of our husbands wouldn't mind us downsizing our stash. I know mine wouldn't. How about personal items or are they only looking for food?

Donations for the Veterans food bank can be made at any legion around calgary.... or many schools also. They do accept personal care items as I had to get that confirmed, as my sons school is doing a drive for them... We sent in 100lbs of groceries, and personal care items on monday.

Here's part of the email we received from my son's cadets squadron regarding what they need:

Non-Perishable Items needed (no fresh produce): Anything that comes in a box, can, pouch, or bottle. Meats, vegetables, rice, stews, soups, fruit, cereals, pasta, peanut butter, jams, sugar, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cake & muffin mixes, pancake mix, syrup, Jello, puddings, hamburger helper, stove top dressing, Sidekicks, popcorn, granola bars, cookies, ketchup, mustard, relish, toilet paper, Kleenex, soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc.

A cash donation can also be made (payable to the Veteran’s Food Bank). This donation can be used for perishable food items, or home/medical/dental needs.

oHHHHH i SOOOO wish that I could come tonight! I'll have to settle for sleeping in until 10am, having wine with friends and not changing any diapers...te he he...I love Grandma!

I did make it to a couple stores with my son yesterday (he wanted out of the house!).. we even drove up to RO... that store is MASSIVE! The CS lady was great, she said it isnt normally her on the desk, but she took her time and never had an issue. I know I will be making other trips up there that is for sure.
