You are very generous giving to local shelters Patty!
I am curious what your recipe for lawn fertilizer with dish soap is? I have never tried making it myself.

Got it from a book many years ago. Can't remember the name of the guy but he used to have specials on PBS sometimes.
Mix together in a sprayer that you attach to the hose.
1 cup dish soap
1 or 2 beers
1 cup amonia
1/2 cup molasses
Fill the rest of the sprayer to the top with water and attach to the hose. I am serious this will make your grass gorgeous and no poison so you can walk on it right away. Now worries for kids and pets.
The soap is to clean it and the bugs don't like it, the amonia is "like a thunderstorm", the beer has the hopps/yeast and the molasses something else I can't remember but you can substitute cola for molasses.
If you do it once a week you will have happy grass.

No the soap takes the sticky out of it. I also try to do it just before a rainfall so it soaks tight in or I water the lawn although I've stopped doing that in recent years trying not to use too much water.
I'm actually planning on giving it it's first shot tomorrow cause it's going to rain.

Patty, I am new to SC and hope that I will learn enough to give to charity too. I have been telling my friends at work about the unbelievable deals and the great things posted. I was watching an episode of WifeSwap and there was a couponer on. She said she could get $80 worth of groceries for $10, and she almost did. She was over by 1 cent. I will never laugh at a couponer again.

That lawn recipe is interesting! I know that spraying your plants with a dish soap solution can get rid of aphids, dunno about the rest. Maybe I'll try it on a small section of lawn and see what happens!
