It's that time of year again! I hope everyone's been enjoying their spring, and it's time for the next SDM referral event! If you've participated in one before. you know how this works. The main changes this time are that you must spend 30$ (not 20$) on eligible items. Also this time we will be implementing a policy that if you do not shop on one of the days of this event AND YOU DO NOT TELL US, you will be excluded from the next event.
It's not much to ask that we be informed. We understand that sometimes the unexpected happens, but it's not too much to expect a little bit of communication about it afterwards, ok? Hopefully this will speed up point distribution.

This event seems to be just like the last referral event, only this time it take place from MONDAY, May 25 to WEDNESDAY, May 27. That means if you want to join a group make sure you can shop on one of those days.
If you want to join one of our groups, DO NOT sign up for the event on your own!
What are we talking about?
Good question. An event like this is for shoppers who collect Shoppers Drug Mart or Pharmaprix (same company) Optimum points. By joining one of our groups, you can earn 9545 optimum points if everyone in your group spends $30 in the store (on eligible items) on May 25-27 (One single transaction on any of those days). 10,000 points are worth $10 if you redeem at the highest redemption level.
Basically, the way a referral event like this works is that we will create groups of 10 members + 1 group leader. After SDM awards points on June 2, group leaders will distribute the group points they receive evenly amongst all group members WHO SHOP.
If everyone shops and spends $30 before tax AND AFTER COUPONS OR REDEMPTIONS on eligible items, you will get up to 9,545 points from participating in these groups--5000 from SDM for shopping, and up to 4545 transferred to you by the group leader. You may gain additional points from additional referrals you make yourself, outside the group, unless you are a group leader. However, the 4,545 referral points you would get from the group are NOT guaranteed. That being said, we expect everyone that signed up to shop. This only works if everyone plays nice.
What if I'm not a smartcanucks member?
These are SmartCanucks groups, so we ask anyone who wishes to participate to please register with smart canucks.
It only takes a moment to do so. And you may find there are plenty of other advantages to being a member as well. ;)

Put you SmartCanucks username in the subject line.
Include the answers to the following questions:Note that you will ONLY be allowed to sign up one card per group. The reason why: it is more advantageous to register these extra cards yourself.
- What is your name?
- What is your name in the SmartCanucks forums? This is very very important. This, along with the email you used to contact us, is how the group leader will be contacting you)
- Can you log in to your account on the Optimum site?
- Are you available to shop between May 25 and 27? Note that this is Monday to Wednesday.
- Have you already signed up for this event? (note if the answer is yes, then you cannot join again. However, if you are a responsible SmartCanucks member we may be able to make you a group leader--no promises. DO NOT sign up on your own!)
- What are the last 9 digits of your Optimum number (so that your group points can be distributed to you). (Note that we do NOT request passwords, except from group leaders.)
- Do you have an MSN ID?
- Are you interested in being a group leader?
Let's say you have two cards (yours, and your spouse's).
Signing both up using the group method:
- Each card receives 9,545 points = 19,090 points total (this will be less if someone in your group doesn't shop)
Signing one up using the group method, and then referring the 2nd card yourself:
- Card that's part of the SmartCanucks group = 9,545 + 5,000 points for referring card outside of group = 14,545
- 2nd card that's outside of group = 5,000
- 19,545 points total (455 more per card you register - plus if someone in your group doesn't shop, this only affects one card, and not all of them!).
(or you can just take out word for it--more points for you if you refer them yourself)
***IF you have friends/family cards that you want to register for the event, FOLLOW the instructions in cookiecrumbs.ca/sdm/tut after you register your first card from your group leader's referral link.
If after signing up, you realize you cannot shop or participate, please email us to let us know and we can assign someone else to your group in your stead. ***If you're signing up friends or family, you should refer them yourself AFTER you're in a group.
You will HAVE to retain your SDM receipt to prove that you shopped. If the group leader does not receive the maximum number of points (meaning that someone did not shop) you will HAVE to submit/email this receipt to them as proof before your points will be transferred! No receipt = no points. Hopefully we won't ever have to ask for a receipt, but keep it just in case.
NEW. If for any reason you do not manage to shop, or have someone else shop for you, using your card, during this event, you must inform us or be banned from the next event! This process is quick and painless when everyone shops, or tells us if they didn't! Everyone will thank you if you just communicate!
