VeeVee - I'm trying to broaden my ethnic cooking skills! Now my dream would be to do all the amazing baking that my Yugo SILs and friends do - all just amazing! I think I will try krempita some time soon.
Oh me oh my! We have an amazing Indian resturant down the street from us and yesterday when we took the pup out we walked by and the smell was amazing!.
I should really visit the in laws ;). DH's stepmom is from nairobi and makes the most amazing ethnic foods ever!
Potato pancakes and bacon :)
Not sure. I know it will have to contain asparagus since it will otherwise be wasted.
Right now I am eating a Greek style Bluberry yogurt from Dannon. We picked up a few differnt kinds of yogurt in the states that I can't find up here. It is super yummy :P Nice and think and creamy.
Ok. I have finally decided ;). I have never made this before so I hope I don't make DH sick :surprised:.
I am making bacon, asparagus and gruyere quiche:P.
Wish me luck. If it turns out good I will post pics.
well I had greek salad and gyro for breakfast/lunch then decided on cornflakes for dinner lol (going backwards??) and a "white freezie" for dessert/ after dinner drink? mmmm
KFC Twoonie Tuesday (realllllllllly don't like KFC chicken much but i'll eat it)
So I said if the quiche turned out I would post pics so here it is. This was my first time making it and it was AMAZINGLY YUMMY!!! :P. It was really easy and I can not believe how amazing it tasted. Better than any resturant :) :top:

Harbie those look great! I love quiche...can u share the recipe???
I just had a mini snack hehe roasted red pepper crackers with old cheddar cheese and a small bowl of balkan style yogurt Mmmm me belly full! lol
Thanks VeeVee. It's really simple.
Bacon Asparagus Quiche:
1 Pack Bacon
1 Bunch Asparagus
1 Medium sized Shallot
2 9" uncooked pie shells
5 eggs
1 1/2 half and half
2 cups shredded Swiss or gruyere cheese
salt & pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 400. Blind bake the pie shells for about 10 min. Let cool.
Dice and brown bacon. Drain and cool
If you have the thin tender asparagus then just cut into 1" lengths and add to leftover bacon fat. Add finely diced shallot to pan.
Beat 5 eggs(leave whites of one seperate) with half and half and S&P. Use the 5th eggwhite as a wash over the pie crust then add it to the others so you don't waste it.
Fill bottom of the pie with bacon/shallot/asparagus mixture and top with cheese. Fill the pie up with the egg and cream mixture. Bake at 400 for approx. 30-40min until it's firm and slightly browned (mine took 34min).
Allow it to cool and then ENJOY!!!
I made Chinese food for lunch. Stirfry veggies with turkey breast. Stirfry rice with ham, egg and green onion.
Later this evening I decided that I wanted bannock.
I worked all day...DH made the most delicious roast chicken, veggies, potatoes and gravy..yummy!
last night was dole's southwestern salad with dirty rice made with yves veggie meat... sprinkled with some chipotle hot sauce, mmm. tonight's is up in air -- I'll know more when my stomach begins to possess me later this afternoon. that quiche looks delicious up there... I might veggiefy it!
Is it just me, or does everyone else's dinner always sound better than what you're having yourself? LOL!
to-night shipwreck request from dd lol
poohrules - my son requests shipwreck often, too!
Goddess - I know, it's always better to read/see what everyone else is having!
The quiche look great - having made one in ages!
Whopper Wednesday today! Yippee!
OOps, sorry!!
Shipwreck is just a layered casserole - it's nice because you don't have to precook anything; easy-peasy!
Use a 2 litre casserole, start layering at bottom -
1-2 thinly sliced onions
4 thinly sliced potatoes
salt, pepper
1 pound raw ground beef - spread to size of casserole
salt, pepper, garlic powder (other spices if you want)
sprinkle on 1/2 cup raw white rice
1 cup chopped celery and/or 1 cup frozen mixed veggies
Mix one can tomato soup with one can water.
Pour this over everything in casserole - you can poke meat with a knife so it goes down a bit.
Cover, bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours. You don't even have to peek!
When you take out of oven, uncover and let stand about 15 minutes before serving.
Tonight I am having pasta and I am making a sauce I saw on TV...
Tomatoe sauce mixed with half a pack of cream cheese...its supposed to make it almost like a rose sauce. Hope it taste good!
Spaghetti with meat sauce tonight
Something with pork sirloin. Have no clue what to do with it.
