Stopped into SDM to pick up the Dawn dishsoap and Purex laundry detergent taking advantage of the sale and coupon I had for each product. Although I only had one coupon for each item it was worth picking them up. I had run an errand at WM earlier and picked up a few more of the $1 and $2.50 coupon booklet for Go Fresh products; bonus, without realizing SDM had 2/$5 deal on the 2x120g packs.
Anyways, I end up finding the Crest Pro-Health toothbrushes on sale for $2.99 vs $5.99 and I had a $2 coupon!! I decided to pick up the rinse too on sale and had a $1 coupon. I was able to in fact use 2 $1 coupons for the 2 packs of Dove bars.
I paid and walked out but something made me look a bit closer at my receipt and I noticed that I had been charged the regular price on the bars of soap. I went back in and had the cashier check things over; there was an error on both my and the store's part. All Dove bars (2x120g pks) were marked on sale 2/$5 or $3.99 each vs regular $4.79 except for the one I picked up. I noticed only after closer inspection of shelf labelling with cashier; though because she noticed all other bars were on sale she was going to check with the manager (I think that is who she said she called) and was just going to give me the bars at sale price. This is where it gets a bit tricky....I won't go into the details other that I mentioned SCOP and mentioned I should then get the 1st of my 2 pks for free and the 2nd at the correct shelf/sale price. So i figured $2.50 per pack since 2/$5 but no she states the way they have it in the system is that the 1st pack would ring in at the single unit sale price $3.99 and the second at $1.01. I understood what she was saying and the logic they use but I expect to get 1 item free and second at the proper sale price ($2.50 to me was reasonable, but I'll take it at $1.01 if that is how she had to enter it)....problem is she didn't know how to enter it to in fact deal with SCOP in this specific type of sale/pricing/system setup. At some point I stated that if the 2/$5 was considered 1 item then I should get it free but that didn't fly.
In any case, she reimbursed me the regular price of the items plus taxes (I now realized she had taken my coupon at initial transaction yet reimbursed me all moneys not taking into account coupons I redeemed...so I made $2) and then charged me the $2.50 plus taxes for one pack and the other $0.01 as the register won't accept $0.00 (free) for the SCOP. For a penny I was not going to argue other than I mentioned I'd never ran into that in other stores.
So all the items I bought were on sale coupled with a coupon and I ended up using SCOP. I paid $8.60 for what otherwise would have cost me approx $32!!!
I'm amazed that I continue to save this much money now into my 3rd week of shopping like other SCers!!This thread is currently associated with: Pharmaprix, Shoppers Drug MartLast edited by frugal_gal; Tue, Apr 21st, 2009 at 11:02 PM.

Always check your receipts. I believe the stat I saw once was about 1 in 12 items are rung in wrong.
Good job shopping.

Great job. Always check receipts. I started checking mine as I was leaving FB's last night and for some reason stopped when I noticed the cashier staring at me. Later at home I noticed she had overcharged me almost 3.00 on a bag of peppers. Reduced price was .79. She charged me 3.59.
