Interesting stuff. I did know that stores are individually owned by a pharmacist. My wife's mom went to high school with a guy who ended up becoming a pharmacist and I guess he had/has a store here.
We just redeemed on Sunday. We tried 4 different stores and only one had a Wii Sports Resort left. When we redeemed the time before this last one we wanted to get a Wii-when we talked to the guy at the electronics counter he, at first, said they didn't have any left. I pointed to a box behind the counter and the guy said "oh, I guess we do have one". So, not sure if he really didn't know there was one left or if he was holding it for an employee or something so they could redeem their points for it or what but I was sure happy we got it

I just checked out my sdm's owner & it says that its a corporate store. I guess mine is owned by h/o. Now, I feel better about my coupons & 20x

How did you find that out? Did you just ask at your store or can you find that info on SDM's website?

OMG today I just bought lot of Lindt Bunnies (My Husband and DD loves Chocolate, especially Lindt), I wonder if they would consider if I bought it and then resell...

so are you telling us to spend our points in case they stop the program? lol. My sis works at shoppers,she seems to like it there and get treated more respectably then other places shes worked (itleast at the 1 she works at),she tried transfering to a closer one but she hated it.

The reason is that the store, not the corporation, pays out the value in points. So if you spent $50 on a 20X point day, Shoppers Head Office makes a commission on that $50 sale, but the store owner must pay out 10,000 points (50 X 10=500 points, X20 = 10,000; about $21) into your Optimum account. (The store that makes the sale pays out the points value, not the store you redeem at. )

I guess what I don't understand after reading this, is why the stores would hide electronics merchandise on bonus REDEMPTION day. Per the explanation above, the individual stores are having to pay big bucks when we EARN points on bonus days; not when we redeem. So why would they care what we redeem on? To me the explanation above indicates that the electronics would be hidden on bonus earn days, not bonus redeem days.
