    You wouldn't be referring someone to get a card. You would be referring (or inviting) someone who already has a card to participate in this special event. By accepting your invitation and doing what is required of them they, and you as their inviter, get 5000 bonus points each.

    Does that make sense?

    Yes, yes, yes !!! Cyanne corrected me on that one ! I will get him his own Optimum Card, and I'll be able to invite him when his card becomes accessible online, hopefully by the NEXT refer a friend event ! Right ??

    Right. Referral events generally happen about every three months. The last one was at the end of May, which made me worry that the next one would be on the brim of September. Luckily SDM must have found out about my trip to Hawaii and conveniently decided to schedule the event a little earlier so I'd be able to participate .

    I can't remember exactly how long they say it takes to activate a card, but I think it was 4-6 weeks or something like that. If you still can't get in after that long, you can call 1-800-shopper and they'll activate it for you over the phone (Well, hubby has to call). Anyway, that will be in plenty of time for the next event.

    I updated the third post late last night. if the line with the group leader's name is black, invitations have not yet been sent. But it's a holiday weekend, so we should have as much patience with respect to the group leaders as you'd expect them to have for you. (normally 24 hours--and, this weekend only, Tuesday)
