Just a heads up - as long time cashier for many companies, we are advised of the SCOP, but told NOT TO OFFER IT UNLESS THE CUSTOMER ASKS!! This is a sneaky way for the businesses to work, yes, but their thoughs are if a customer is happy to get it for the lower price, we still get money (instead of giving it for free). Since I know the SCOP word for word (and carry a card in my purse with the exact text), I sometimes STILL have to battle with managers to get what I deserve. LOL. There are some store managers that see me coming and don't even bother arguing now

I love your idea of using the camera phone - I usually pull the tag if I know it's from an old sale (some, like at SDM, have dates) to save the cashier from price checking.

I went to SDM last week and 2 of my items scanned incorrecly. $3.99 scanned at $6.99 and another $3.99 scanned at $4.99 but instead of SCOP, they just fixed the prices. Is that normal? And what should I ask them to do? Do I say "what about your scanning code of practice"? I have never done that, and I'm the type just to let it go just to save me from having to say something!!

say "according to the SCOP" (while pointing to the sign on the door/register/counter if they have one) "am I not entitled to this item free?"

I would go back and talk to the manager about this. The cashiers probably can't do anything about it.

But if the date for the sale is expired, are you still entitled to SCOP? I tried this once and the cashier said that because the date was on there and the date had passed, I was not entitled to neither the lower price nor SCOP.

It's their responsibility to remove the sign, no matter the date written on it.

You are correct - most cm will match the price and only give it to you with a SCOP if you tell them....To me it is almost like a scam because they are supposed to offer you the SCOP deal if its wrong not to price match and every single CM knows that!
