So today I was at Zellers to pick up a couple of things. When I went to check out I handed the cashier the SPC card and she said that she couldn't accept it without student ID. I said it is the VIP no ID required. She then told me she was informed from her manager through "head office" that they are no longer to accept these cards. Has anyone else run into this?? It didn't make any sense to me so I went to customer service she had no idea what I was talking about. I asked to have the store manager call me. I also want to contact head office. Any suggestions on what to do from here?

Sorry, I don't have one. But I hope that's not the case, because I really want one when they are offered later this year!!!

maybe she's just jealous!! a lot of the cashiers nowadays ask for my ID..whereas before..they don't check AT ALL!! some even critize me because my ID was issued 3 years ago (im in university) and they say it's no longer valid...there's no expiry date on my ID and im still in school!!
a lot of the younger cashiers don't care at all! i'd say contact head office and get confirmation!

Great bonus discount with SPC. A few cashiers Ive met thinks its only for school supplies and refuses to let me use it on grocery items.

I have a 'regular' SPC card and I am not a student. H&R block gave it to me because I filed my taxes as a recent grad *shrug*. I have never been asked for ID until the other day when a cashier at Zellers asked for student ID. I had an expired University ID that I showed and she accepted it.
You can get the VIPs through magazines, can't you? So you shouldn't need ID... if I were in your situation I'd Email/call their head office (Zellers)I'm always open to trading for pet product coupons (especially free products and high value coupons) - I donate these items to shelters and rescue groups. My motivation - My Dog. I purchased a shirt at the Bay a few weeks ago, the cashier asked for my student id after I gave her my SPC VIP card, I told her the card indicates no student id required, she asked 'are you a student?' I said it doesn't matter if I'm a student, the card states student id is not required, the card is legit from LouLou magazine. she said 'ok'.

well this is what i have always done. point out that it is a vip and no id required. that's when i was told that vip is not valid???? only with student id. well that defeats the purpose because clearly i know i am not a studednt and thats why i ordered lulu magazine to get the vip card.
