Is it true that if you use a gift card up with one purchase, that your Optimum Points increase?
I don't know where I got this idea but I went tonight to use up expiring coupons and thought I would purchase a gift card to enhance my points. The teller didn't know about it and asked the manager who also hadn't heard about it. Was I dreaming?

I know that you can get optimum points when purchasing a gift card and then you can turn around and use your gift card to pay for whatever it is you are buying to help get you extra points.

Right
Plan out how much you think you are going to spend at SDM then go buy your GC first. You will get the points for the GC and then when you make your purchase you will receive your regular points. I just found out about this about a month ago from all the great ppl on here

You don't get the 10x/15x/20x bonus points when buying an SDM gift card. Only regular points are awarded. JoJos Edit: Another SC member mentions in a later post that SDM has on occassion awarded special bonus X times points for using a GC during a specific promotion.
For other gift cards they sell in their 'Gift Card Mall', you don't get any points at all.
Now that brings up another question (which I'm sure has been asked and answer a KAJILLION times before) can you use a SDM gift card to purchase the other gift cards they sell? JoJos Removed the original sentence in this thread because it is explained in later posts that you can use SDM GC to purchase other GCs they sell like Esso gas cards, certain restuarants, etc, as well as lottery, stamps, bus tickets/passes, etc. Read on in this thread for confirmation from other members on what they've used the SDM GC for.Last edited by jojos_n_kelowna; Wed, Jun 3rd, 2009 at 02:23 AM.
