Thread: Hotel deal

This is a different kind of brag, but a deal is a deal!
I booked a 3 star hotel in Bellevue, WA through Priceline.com for $50! And I've stayed in the same hotel before and paid at least $100 through Expedia.
Priceline has a feature where you "name your own price" where you bid on how much you would be willing to pay for a certain star hotel in a certain area. You don't get to know which hotel it is until after you commit but there are some great deals to be had. My in-laws were in Bellevue the same weekend and got the Hyatt (4 star) for $83. Not bad!
If you are adventurous enough, I'd give it a try. I'll definitely be using this service again for quick overnighters where I won't be spending much time in the room. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Just wondering when do you find out what hotel after you pay?

A guy I work with was just telling me about Priceline..he uses it all the time..but he said you actually give your credit card before you book and you can't cancel or you will be charged anyways...but he said if you are for certain when you are going and are open to hotels/cars..it's awesome.
He said to do some research before anyone dives in.

Yes, make sure you do some research and your travel plan are definite.
You give them your credit card info before you bid, basically agreeing that if they accept your bid, you have to accept which hotel they give you. Then you place your bid and within a minute they tell you if it's accepted and which hotel. I did some research and found this website biddingfortravel.com where people post the deals they get through priceline (and hotwire) so you can get an idea of what to bid.
You can only bid once per day so if your offer is not accepted you can't keep bidding. They also do rental cars and flights but I've only done a hotel booking so far.

We booked our Florida vacation on priceline a couple years ago ...we got an unbelievable deal... a 4 star hotel on the beach (St Petes) with kitchen for $50 a night regular price $160/night - it was great - we just put in what we wanted and where abouts and started with a super low price until we got it. I would definitely recommend priceline
