I think I will have to do the same. i cant stand havig a crock pot sit around doing nothing but simmer chilli a few times a year lol.
Mine is a Rival stoneware crockpot it says.. its pretty big. No idea how many quarts.
Maybe I will put a new crockpot on my list for santa lol

I had a reallly old one(20yrs) that worked great but then the lid went mia when we moved, so i had to buy a new one went through 3 before i found one i love and works great. Bought at Walmart for about 60 black and decker i think, 6 quart i believe.

I only use my crock pot for chilli. Its a good name and it wasnt cheap but it never gets hot enough imo to cook a potatoe in 8 hrs????
