  3. Thanks for the rep boost.
  4. Gee, I would love to be able to go visit NORAD. Being under a lake would be a totally amazing adventure and to top it all off you might meet Santa. LOL
  5. Yes, a lot of the bases had bowling alleys, pools, movie theatres, gyms, snack bars, convenience stores, bars, ceramic clubs...they were cool little towns on their own. The base in North Bay (NORAD-where they track Santa) is under a lake and set up so that it's self contained. There are big doors that close it all down. There are rooms for sleeping and a gym.
  6. It is sad. I did some reading on the history of this base and found it to be really interesting, they even had a bowling alley. Everything was pretty well self contained. I did have 2 cats also but I brought home a stray last year. DH said no way, but he is still here.
  7. No, that's the time when my mom was around - we went up a few years ago and checked out the old base (what's left of it!). They were both so excited. But my mom did remember when everything happened with Stephen Truscott. All the old bases are shutting down and are on their way to looking like Clinton's (or just plowed down to nothing)...it's so sad. I spent my entire childhood on bases and there's less than a handful of them left.
  8. That's quite a long time ago condsidering all that is left are the staffing houses and derelict buildings. Small world. I live across the street from the house where Stephen Truscott grew up and buy my eggs from the owner of the farmland where Lynn Harper was murdered. Were you around then?
