Sorry to hear that you've also faced this It was hard to say no to Mom (big guilt trip!!!), but luckily my DH was 100% behind me in my decision, especially as the bank said it would harm our chances of being able to renew our own mortgage and get a good rate. I figure I'll never see the $2000 I loaned her last year, but that's a smaller price to pay than being on the hook for her house! All the best to you!!
