  1. SOO glad to hear from you, I know what you mean about the new people posting, sure miss when we first started here, everybody was kinda like family. Sorry to hear about your health, seems like the older we all get the more stuff we have to deal with, guess it beats the alternative!!

I am still working for the temp agency under the same assignment with Alabama Power Co/Southern Co. Services. I love the job, just wish they would make this position a Southern Co. job with benefits. My hubby was called by his former employer of 14 years about 3 weeks ago & is working contract labor with them. We don't know what the future holds there, he had built up a little lawn business so he is trying to cut a yard most every afternoon just in case this job doesn't work out. My ankle is doing fine, still a few problems with the tendons which I was told could take up to a year to heal.

Hope everything is going ok with your hubby & children.
Take care & let's keep in touch.
    Yvonne
  2. Hi, Tiff told me you'd asked about me so thought I'd better drop in & visit. So many faces on the pnp thread I no longer know I'm just not real comfortable there anymore. Tiff gets my words for me now how spoiled is that lol. Trying to heal up from several falls in the past two months got a wound on my leg from one fall & several compression fractures in my back from another thankfully the other falls just got bruises & scrapes with. My potassium has been very low & they seem to have problems getting it to a safe level. All I want to do is sleep when it gets so low & end up dozing off a lot not getting anything done. I mostly hang out on facebook now trying to keep up with my games so my pets don't run off but otherwise not doing much else. I hope all is well with you & your hubby. Did your leg get all healed up & are you still with the electric co? How's things for your hubby work wise? Hugs hope all is well.
  3. Happy New year glad to hear your getting around better hoping you & your dh have a much better year!
  4. Here's hoping that we both have a better year!! I've missed being on & talking, just really busy--still hobbling around, but moving a little faster!! Take care
  5. Hugs am so sorry this is all happening been a very crappy year for the two of you! Is there any reason you can't do your job with your ankle. Guess its fortunate in a way that your husband has the time to drive you but am sure him having a job would definitely be better then having a chauffeer will keep you in my thoughts and prayer.
  6. Hi Star,
You are right, hubby did get a job before me, worked 3 months doing some electrical work for schools & then got laid off exactly 1 week after I started working.

Just when we thought things were straightening out a bit, I fell yesterday in the front yard while planting fall flowers & broke my right ankle. Guess he will be driving me to work for awhile, I just hope I still have a job.!!
  7. Sounds interesting. Thanks I think things will get better now already feeling better
  8. It has something to do with trading kinda like the stock market--don't really understand, will find out more Monday. I did find out that I will be working 8-5 while training & after that can work different hours. I would love to work 7-4 like I did the past 3 years.

Sorry to hear you are not feeling good, hope things improve soon!!
  9. Sounds like it has something to do with customers accounts. Its gotten to the point its like military intelligence having access to peoples info, so many people out there wanting to get a hold of social sec. #'s and whatever other info they can to run scams. Sounds like a good job and pray you get in that door, least you know people will always need electricity so some security there in this unstable job market
  10. It is with Alabama Power Company to replace a lady that is retiring. Since they have a hiring freeze they went thru a temp agency so I will actually be working for the agency with the hope I will get on their payroll when the freeze is lifted. I have 2 very good inside people on my side which is the only reason I got the job. Not near the money I was making, but at least it is a foot in the door. It is working in a highly secured area so they are having to run background, criminal & credit check. Don't really know exactly what I will be doing, but it will be office work.

    Thanks for the encouragement.
  11. WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy for you, so is it a job similar to the one before? Comparable money? Hope you are very very happy with it! hugs
  12. Thanks I am real hopeful my RA dr said it could just be from the rheumatoid and lupus so am hoping that is all it is. Hugs!
  13. Star, so sorry to hear about your new problems, goodness knows you certainly have enough health troubles without new ones!! Sure hope everything turns out ok on your ct scan. Take care.
  14. That's great to hear hope you all can find something fun to do Sunday! I'm fine. You take care and pray you get a job soon!
  15. Hope everything is going well with you. My hubby has been working on his new job now for 3 weeks--goes on day shift starting Monday--yeah!! Still no job yet for me, but things are really looking better since he is bringing home some fairly decent money. He worked 66 hours last week--he will be off Sunday so maybe we can do something fun . Take care.
  16. I don't have any kids--just Jett. John & I have only been married 13 years--married really too late to have any.
  17. oh geez something else to look forward to will be 50 next January but lol not like i'm in the best of shape now to suddenly start feeling pains! Have a great day. Have no idea if you have kids other then furkids
  18. No real problem with his health, just the usual aches & pains--he is 57. Seems like when you hit 50 weird pains start & you just can't hold up like you once did. His line of work usually requires him going up & down ladders & scaffolds & that wears your knees down. He has been doing a lot of tree work lately & that is certainly more physical than electrical work. He is going to have to get used to working the long hours & getting into a routine working at night. Hopefully he will adjust without any problems.

I know what you mean about working a job you don't like. The boss I had for many, many years was forced to retire about 4 years ago & the place was never the same after that. I did not enjoy working there the last few years, but really felt like I was trapped as could not make anywhere near the money I was making. I guess the decision was made for me to move on since the work got so slow. Hopefully this will open a new door & lead me to something where I will be much happier.
  19. Thats so wonderful, the extra hours would really help but is there a issue with his health? "if he can hold up" was why I ask. Yes I just know there is a great job just around the corner for you too, don't settle for something you would hate if at all possible there is very little more painful then spending so much of your life doing something you hate. Dh spent 15 years doing a job he hated but couldnt' find anything that would pay him even close to what he was making. When he took this job it was just the kind of job he really wanted and yes he took a pay cut, quite a bit of one but since the kids were all grown we decided we'd just make due rather then have him continue in his old job. I have no doubt he would of ended up in more health if he hadn't gotten away from that from the stress alone. Hugggggs best of luck to you and prayers for you!
  20. Thanks for the well wishes on John's job. He filled out 1 application & got an interview--seems like I've filled out 5,000 & nothing!! But that's ok, I know something good is coming for me eventually. He will be working at night for the rest of this month at a high school doing electrical work & then when school is out, will go on days. Sounds like he may get around 55-58 hrs. a week, which will be great if he can hold up. I have an interview Tues with another employment agency, at least now I don't feel the urgency to take something that may not pay anything or doing something I would hate.

Take care--glad you are finally starting to heal!!
  21. Good luck hope you find something
  22. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers Star, we live in a small town about 20 miles from Birmingham which is where I'm looking for work. I've looked daily on Monster, hospitals & several other websites. Seems if you have an accounting background (which I don't) a job would be easier to find. I am fairly good at Excel & Word & of course can type. The recruiters around here are saying it may take as long as 6 months to find a decent job. Thank goodness we had a little money stashed away and can fall back on that if we have to. John is only getting to work about 3 days a week, but he has been fortunate to find some tree work so he has picked up some extra money between that & selling firewood.

I wish you could wave your wand for the folks on here, seems a lot of folks have problems here. Take care, hope you feel better soon.
  23. thank you still a lot of pain but got some sleep which really helped so I don't feel so totally miserable and tired today. Prayers are with you on your job search. So wish at times that I had a magic wand and could just wave it and grant my friends their wishes. My dh went thru a online job site ? is there a Monster.com, got several calls but that was after katrina and we were willing to relocate so he got calls from all over the country within days of putting his resume up on it. Might try that don't know how big of an area you live in or if your near enough to a big city to find work there but you might try that. Pretty sure it was called Monster. Good luck huggggggs
  24. Hi hope you have a great day

  27. Hope things get better for you. Wow, this year is really starting out lousy for everyone it seems. Take care.
  28. Thanks you! It's been a nice day hubby took me out for mexican it was pretty good but very mild. The salsa barely had any spice to it at all really bland lmao told hubby next time we bring our own salsa! Nothing like the green stuff they served in Mexico omg it was so good but lol omg so very hot! Have a great weekend
  29. Happy birthday Star, hope you have a great day!!
  30. Thanks for the rep. Still sleeping in the recliner but slowly getting better as long as I don't try to do anything which is hard. So bored just hanging out in the recliner all day but if that's what it takes then I'll do it cuz I sure don't want to prolong this. Have a great weekend!
