Thread: Cheapest way to buy Juice
-
Thu, Nov 3rd, 2011, 09:13 PM #1
Just wondering what your opinion is on the best way to purchase juice.
Fresh OJ seems pretty expensive...the frozen stuff is usually $2/can...then there's the tetra packs (small and 1 L). I don't want to buy a lot of sugary drinks...
Thanks for your help!

Cans of apple juice are usually under a $1, we water them down a bit as I find they are strong.
Other than that I buy 100% juice-juice boxes only and then 100% juice frozen cans.
I will give my kids chocolate and candy but feel guilty giving them ty juice, go figure lol

We buy frozen juice when it's on sale, so between 1 dollar to 1.50 per can.
We add extra water too - it's usually sweet with the recommended cans of water to add.

The minute maid juices are full of sugar, but very handy & inexpensive. I guess you take the good with the bad. Orange juice & apple juice that are "concentrated", as I understand it, are not really 100% real juice & not necessarily the best for us. ?? Thoughts?

I usually buy the frozen concentrate when it's on sale. Sometimes SDM has manager's reduced stickers on the cartons of chilled juice and I stock up then.
Has anyone else noticed that the MM juices and punches are now 295mL rather than 355mL? If they downsize any more, you'll be able to fit two cans into one pitcher!

I did notice the tins of Minute Maid were smaller, but I still make it with the same amount of water...my kids don't notice the difference
Hope they don't make them any smaller though!

We go through so much juice around here that I started making my own with a stove top contraption that steams out the juice from fruit. It works absolutely wonderful - we are fortunate to be able to get free pears/grapes/pick blackberries/raspberries etc. so the labour to make the juice is every bit worth it. I do buy the concentrated apple juice when it is on sale and mix it with the home made juice....

Well right now the best way to buy juice is with all the great free juice coupons on some products right now.
Buy Oasis Bottle juice 1.89L and they have a code under the label for a free Oasis juice, various types.
There is also a $1.00 printable in the coupon database for Oasis juice exp Dec 31, 2011
There are also similar coupons on Nature Valley granola bars and Fruit Gushers too!
So wait for a good sale on these items and use your coupons and get free juice too!The most serious gardening I do would seem very strange to an onlooker, for it involves hours of walking round in circles, apparently doing nothing." --Helen Dillon

I have been buying 2 litre cartons of fresh juice when it goes on sale and I have a coupon. I have been able to get Minute Maid fresh squeezed for as little as 99 cents. I have a large freezer, so I buy multiples and freeze them. Works like a charm.

Also the cans Allen's apple juice have $5.00 off Oasis juices coupons on the labels. When the cans were on sale for $1.00 I stocked up on them and then now I can use the coupons to buy Oasis juice when it goes on sale. You can get 100% fruit juice (not from concentrate) on sale for $2.00 for a 1.89 L carton and use the $1.00 off coupon so it only costs $1.00
The OJ is good for at least 1 month and the other juice blends can be good for a few months. Check the expiry dates on them before you buy and stock up when you see them on sale.

i've been stacking coupons to get juice and doing whatever promos they are to get free juice (for example granola bars.. healthy kinds have free juice coupons on them) i've also been buying the larger oasis and getting a free juice coupon code.. i've found the oasis juices are cheaper, and they are 100% juice often the 1L tetras come on for a buck and i'll buy a dozen (same with the dole tetras) we also water juice down

i actually don't buy much juice. for us it is a once in a while 'treat'
my poor kids have been trained to drink water (from the tap!) and they actually think water is yummy
if i do buy it, i usually go for concentrate (unless there is a super cheap sale on the fridge kind)
a really great thing is to make your own! if you have a good juicer you can make fresh healthy juice that tastes awesome and if you are only doing it once in a while it's not much of a hassle. it's also fun to make up combinations of odd leftover fruits or veggies. i found that the apple orchard near me will sell me a shopping bag stuffed with juicing apples (rejects) for about 4 bucks.Last edited by anisa; Fri, Dec 9th, 2011 at 11:38 PM.

I only get juice as mentioned above...on sale frozen concentrate or with coupons and a super price...I got an Oasis carton for 0.49 after a $2.00 coupon and $2.49 sale at Walmart this week, for example.
Other than that, I squeeze some lemon or lime concentrate into my usual water and that's about it. I do this for mixer for party drinks and avoid the sugar. Juice is like a mega treat! Also because it overwhelms me/is on the "foods/drinks that don't energize me that much" personal list I have going.

Anyone else mix juice with club soda? We don't have pop very often, but I do like to have club soda on hand. The rule in our house is milk first at meal times, then they can have some juice or pop, if serving.
