It's been a while since I posted this, but since there are so many new SCers on here now, I thought I'd repost this:
Use your empty cereal bags to store your refrigerated deli meats, veggies, lettuce, bacon (OMG! FRESH bacon always!), fresh fruits and they'll keep fresh until you've used them all up!
The preservatives that kept your cereal fresh will keep ANYTHING fresh! Why buy blue bags that have the same preservatives when you can get it for FREE?
Recycling + longer food storage: it's a win/win situation!!
I know that once you try this, you'll be hooked on how fresh your foods will be!!! Enjoy! This thread is currently associated with: N/A

hubby makes me do this too. we have a ton in the 'baggie' drawer. if you also open one up.. it covers a cookie tray sheet perfectly.. not sure if you can bake with them. but just for using it as a cover it fits.

hmmm, that is very interesting. What happens if you rinse the bag out? Does that wash the preservative off?

I din't think rinsing out hurts...I probably wouldn't use a detergent....I always just give them a good shake in the sink...a few crumbs won't hurt anything...

Great idea. Will be doing that with the bacon. Like bacon but tired of cooking up the whole pack so as not to waste.

I've heard bad things about the preservatives they use in the cereal bags (BHT/BHA). Even most dog/cat food companies won't touch the stuff anymore (moved to the use of natural preservatives/mostly vit. E).

I love this idea for the lettuce I always through out. Now just to remember when I refill the containers.
Bacon going bad? There's no way that would happen in our house, we have a hard time NOT using it all at once LOL
