for now i am a SAHM doing video game testing and marketing for a small video game software company based out of northern alberta.it is fun and gets money coming in while i am at home.next year hopefully i will have my certification to be a registered mortician.my dream job is to own a funeral home where i live as we don't have one.that is my ten year goal.i want our life to be easy, not rich, but able to travel etc.
hubby works hard for his money.sometimes i feel so guilty he gets treated like crap at his job and he is a hard worker.he works at a newspaper printing plant and it is hard work,he works 12 hours at a time for 5 days straight sometimes 6.my goal is to lighten the burden on him and be able to create a nest egg for us so he can work 8 hours a day.his dream job is being a scout for the nhl.he is so smart and so hockey oriented i tell him "why not,do what you want to do.don't settle" i just want his dreams to come true.right now we are making good coin but we dont get much time.in his words he hates his job but it is a good job and good money in this area.we'll get there...

I love what I do!
. i'm a SAHM to three kids under five, and I have great benefits....hugs whenever I want and kids telling me I'm the best mommy/artist/singer/etc. in the world
I need help with them all day to a disability, and our worker is fantastic so that also adds to the fun! I also run a small business where I sell items I make, so it allows a creative outlet and sense of accomplishment since my househod activites are limited.
Before having my first child almost five years ago, I worked as a wish coordinator for the Children's Wish Foundation, and it was amazing! I had a chance to work directly with the kids and families, had a chance to bless them with some extraordinary things, and told everyone I was a genie!

I am an employment counsellor/lifeskills facilitator for at-risk youth. I cannot imagine doing anything else but unfortunately my line of work is quickly being eliminated. Last May our funding was cut and I have been unemployed ever since. I had a job I loved and was making a difference in people's lives, the perfect bosses, and co-workers that are among some of my best friends. I loved getting out of bed in the mornings and going to work. (Something I appreciated since I hated my previous job and would get physically sick at the thought of work each morning.) I do agree that the organization and co-workers are as important as the actual job itself.
So now I browse the job ads each day looking for that elusive job in my field (almost impossible since social funding is not something our federal government supports) I have even applied to more business type fields (something I would dread each day, lol) Oh well, come April I won't have to worry about work anymore with the arrival of our newest addition.

I love what I do! I teach dance (tap, jazz) to 3 year olds up to adults in the evenings at our local Dance Studio. My husband is envious of me because I get paid for doing my life long passion.

I guess the other thing I love about my job is that it is Mon-Fri. No shift work like most people who work at the mine.
And......best part..... hours are 6:30-3pm. Best shift on earth!!! This was a selling point for me. I hate working 9-5:30pm because at lunch (around Noon) I would get bummed out knowing that I had 4+ hours of work left. Now, I only have 1.5-2hrs depending on if I need to shower/clean up after coming up from underground (it is very dirty).
I'm home at 3:20ish and still have my afternoon to do what I want. In the summer usually mow the lawn/run errands/bank.
I have supper ready for when Michelle gets home...its great.
There is also plenty of opportunity for Overtime. I get called in quite often which I don't mind. I've already put in 38 hours of OT this month.
It will be exciting when I get my P. Eng to see how I can move up!Matt

Wow all of you have great jobs. I have been working for RCSS now for almost 14 years. I started in Electronics, then Bulk, and now Grocery. I love the benefits. I am full time so I get 4 weeks paid vacation, in another year it will be 5 years. Medical, dental, and optical are also included and the 10% colleague discount is great. I work graveyards and some ppl might not like that but I do because NO CUSTOMERS!!!! LOL

I like some of my job, but for the most part, I actually hate it.
I despise having to schedule employees for a 24/7/365 environment which these people knew when they took the job, only to have people whine and complain when they are rotated into shifts that are not Mon-Fri 9 to 5.
I feel like I'm a glorified babysitter sometimes.
What I really hate is that I spend years working really hard to get to a salaried position which includes sick days and actual paid vacation, only for the contract to end on Dec 31.
Not really sure what I want to do after - I wouldn't mind actually working in a Family Law office in some capacity, but I wouldn't even know where to begin on courses I would have to take. I'm pretty informed for FL in Ontario as I have been my own lawyer for every single appearance I've had to deal with as my ex likes to take stuff back to court every couple of years - well now it's less as he's threatened to serve me again only 7 months after the last time!
Anywho, anyone who knows what courses I would need to look into or any other helpful information, please feel free to PM me - FYI _ I'm in Ontario

I have had 3 part-time jobs all at the same time for the past three years while I finish my schooling. I recently quit one of the jobs, a relief support worker at a local homeless shelter because I needed time off to spend with my Dad who just had a stroke. I was also finding the environment more and more stressful, which made going to work no fun.
My other two jobs I really enjoy. I'm a researcher for an economic research firm (plus doing copy-editing and answering phones and anything else that needs done). I love my coworkers and the work environment (very friendly, supportive and fun).
I also work as a research assistant at the university. Sometimes the work is mind-numbing (spending 200+ hours coding transcripts), but I really enjoy it because it lets me think outside of the box and the people I work for really value free thinkers - even if my free thinking sometimes goes off on strange tangents.
I am going to be done school hopefully this spring, so my big dream is to get one job that lets me work days (I've worked a lot of weekends and shiftwork over the past 10+ years and at this point the changing schedules and stress of being on call all the time are starting to take a toll on my body - it's not as easy to do as it once was). I really don't need to earn a lot of money as I don't have fancy tastes and don't really travel anywhere, so I'm hoping that I can land a decent job with a regular schedule. I'd also love to start a family sometime soon, so I'd ideally like a job where folks are understanding and flexible re: the need for family time and about accommodating life's messy actualities

Right now, I hate my job. I love the people there, but the work sucks. Mostly because I am not a "physical labor" type person, and my job is housekeeping (cleaning bending lifting, touching other peoples filth...ick). It's only part time, and take a full hour and 2 buses to get there(for 3-4 hours of work) and it only pay 9.50 hr...and people dont even tip!!!!!!! I have an interview tomorrow at walmart in hopes to pick up some evening shifts as well.. Wish me luck!!! Can't wait until hubby finds a job so I can go back to school and get out of this minimum wage crap cycle. boo.
