Are you a crafter and animal lover? The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada, located in Ontario, posted this today on their Facebook page:

Do you like making crafts and helping donkeys?
Then we have a job for you!

We're looking for donations of hand-crafted items for our Donkey Marketplace on Donkey Day this year. The Marketplace is a popular stop for visitors, and all proceeds go to caring for the animals.

Craft items don't need to be donkey-related, but of course we love those longears.
For more information, please email [email protected]

Thought I would post this in case any of you talented crafters wished to contribute some of your creations to this worthy cause!

(This is Uma, one of the donkeys cared for at the DSC. )

You're welcome, Walkonby! They have a nice Facebook page and website, and when you donate they send a lovely booklet newsletter in the mail a few times a year. I save them and then include them in my Christmas package to my parents!

There are at least three donkey sanctuaries in Canada, though the DSC seems to be the largest and best known. There others called the Primrose Donkey Sanctuary - also in Ontario, and it also has a nice website and Facebook page - and the Turtle Valley Donkey Refuge in BC.

I also discovered that Hope for Wildlife, the wildlife sanctuary/rehab centre behind the television show of the same name, recently launched an auction page on Facebook! The public can bid on items posted, or contribute new items (including high quality, hand-made items).

A very worthy cause - I hope you will share it with the animal-lovers in your life!

A lush/psychedelic turtle painting, a glass mermaid, portable fireworks, and ribbon critters for your hair.
