Not sure where else to post this but hopefully someone here might have some advice/input.
I finally decided to start looking for work (DS is 21 months) after trying and failing to get pregnant for the last year. Well, low and behold I just found I am expecting (eeeeeeee!) anddddd got asked to come in for an interview tomorrow. LOL!
To go or not to go......
The job is a 'Job Creation Partnership' position - has anyone been employed in one of those positions?
Does anyone know if I could get the 600 hours needed to qualify for mat benefits again if it would still qualify under this JCP program?
Should I tell them I am pregnant? (ps no one even really knows yet, I haven't even been to doc yet, that's next week, heh). I've been asking the few that do know, and getting mixed responses on this one....but my thing is, I am going to have to go to appointments, etc - so I kind of have to tell them, no?This thread is currently associated with: N/A

I wouldn`t tell them. They could not hire you (even though that's illegal) if you did tell them.
Tell them in the event they DO hire you lol

Congrats!
Go to the interview, but say nothing. After all, you don't know 'officially'...
Good luck!

Congrats on both fronts.
I am a manager and a mom so I get where you are coming from. But really you are so early on that as a manager I would not be surprised if a I hired someone who really did not know they were pregnant. If this is a full time job you will get your time in for mat leave benefits. Personally if someone works for 7 months and goes on a leave I still feel like it was worth it. What drives me crazy is when I hire someone and then they announce they are 6 months along. Also I would not say anything. You want to be given equal consideration and even though this should not be a factor it could come into play (even if not intentional) if you are one of two equally qualified candidates.Friends don't let real friends pay full price.

Thanks for the replies!
I was trying to find out online if it would effect getting EI because it's a Job Creation Partnership position and found this on another job description link:
- Participants may terminate a JCP contract once other employment is secured or enrollment in an academic program – participants may not otherwise leave a JCP contract without risk to future EI benefits and eligibility from other MTCU programs
:/ So, if I were to terminate it before the end of the contract (it's an 11 month contract), that statement worries me I would not qualify for maternity benefits. >.< I don't know if is only for that position or all of them.

Okay, so I just made some phone calls and I wouldn't qualify for mat leave because through Job Creation Partnership positions, there is no EI deducted. BOOO!
lol, thanks again for the replies ladies.

Well you would not be earning EI either way. So. You can go to work, make some money and get experience

EI would be deducted on any other job, if it wasn't through a government subsidy program.
Not worth it for me to take this after daycare expenses, and gas to make less than $100 a week.

You should consider applying for extra money to help with daycare, even if it's only one payment. You would have to put a letter in and justify what you need the money for. The payment won't come before start of JCP position (if request for funds are approved) but closer to three weeks later after start or when your first JCP pay is made.
Though you might have to factor in that the tax deducted from the JCP pay might not be enough.
I saw your comments about weekly income after expenses-question for you is this JCP posting going to provide you with work experience that is new in some way for you? If yes, do reconsider not chasing the opportunity.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.
