Thread: weed whacker

I'm looking to purchase a good weed whacker (trimmer). I need something that's easy to use and not too heavy or loud. I'm not sure if gas powered or the ones with a cord are better. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

- gas powered too heavy (for me)
- gas powered too much hassle to fill & lubricate & clean
- battery charged newer models are lighter, but inconvenience when they're not charged when you need them or run out too soon
- electric cord (my preference) can be inconvenience for awkward landscape setup
- be sure to get length that fits your height or adjustable (ie: telescopic)
- be sure to get something easy to replenish line
- be sure to get something that is easy to fix when the "replenish line" function doesn't work automatically (I prefer the tap & go feature)
- compare the volt/amps to make sure you're getting the power you need
- cost of electric unit is cheaperLast edited by rockco; Mon, Jul 7th, 2014 at 11:42 AM.

I prefer electric over gas.... less maintenance and the electric weeder is lighter.
However I also found the convenience of edgers and shears.... Cordless, quiet, and I get more precision...

I stand straight up for the sidewalk and just bend over on the side when edging against the wall.
