Thread: Need winter boot suggestions!
-

I need to get my 11 year some winter boots, she's a size 8-9 in ladies shoes, can occasionally fit into a youth size 6. I'm looking for something warm, waterproof, preferably between the 60-70.00 range as I'm going to have to get her two pairs, and something that can last a whole winter(she wears out boots like crazy in the winter, she usually goes through 3 or 4 pairs of cheaper boots in one winter). I won't buy boots from Walmart because I end up replacing them monthly and would rather just buy her a good pair that will last.

I don't know how that age currently feels about ugg-style, but I've gotten a pair of these each of the last two years - the second pair not because the first got worn out, but I got them at 1/2 price end of season.
I'm in SK where it gets to -40, lots of snow - these are warm and great for snow.
They are pretty wide, for me that's a very good thing - they are very comfy! Size-wise, they fit a bit on the larger side.
I also usually don't wear socks with them.

I got the chestnut (which I prefer) and sand.
There is currently buy one get one 1/2 price and free shipping.

No, actually they don't get wet easily - the suede is very thick and the fake shearling lining is awesome. Never had to leave them on the boot drying rack.
I even had forgotten to weatherproof them, so then just didn't bother once the snow came. Bonus, salt stains don't show either.
Now, I don't know where you are - here, we just go from wet to tons of snow, we don't get slushie like some places out east do. Don't know what difference that would make.

I 'd lean towards a boot with a chunky heel but avoid wedge heels on a youth boot. Just check to see if the sole has any good traction patterns for grip and if the sole is leather, that awful plastic, or other manmade material.
If your daughter is active in the snow, then something suitable for long outdoor wear in cold temps should be the guiding factor.
Maybe the Bay or Sears shoe dept on those discounted weekends?Last edited by Ciel; Sun, Oct 12th, 2014 at 10:58 PM.
