Curious as to where others have bought their mattress'. For me the first place that comes to mind is Sleep Country and is where we bought our last one but they weren't very helpful on price. I remember they allowed us to buy a mix match set for a tiny savings and then gave us a over priced sheet set for free that ripped a month later because the thread count was so low on it. And they acted like for those two things they were doing us an amazing deal.
We are in the market for another mattress unfortunately and I'm stuck on where to go. We are pretty specific with what we are looking for - King size, tight top, pocket coil - and then probably soft to medium firmness. But the only place I can find that has some selection at all is Sears. And if possible I'd love to not shop at Sears again - long story. Second option is Sleep Country but they don't have much selection and prices are really expensive.
So anyone have any other suggestions for places to look? This thread is currently associated with: Sears, Sleep CountryInsert Clever Signature Here

the current mattress we have was from Sears when they had a sale. The quality is ok for the price. Our last mattress was from Sleep Country and it was way more expensive but we liked it the most. We've also shopped at the Brick but had a horrible experience with them so we absolutely will not buy anything from them. We've bought furniture from Ashley and had good experience; they also sale mattresses.
good luck with your hunt. I know a good mattress makes a big difference.

I cut a sheet of plywood to fit over the mattress 30yrs ago. Good as new after daily use!
My ancestors slept on wooden beds... why can't I?

We bought a set from Costco for DS recently. Not sure if they carry king sized though.

The set I replaced last year was from Costco - instore, not online. They do have a selection online as well. The mattress I have now is from Best Buy. It was a Sealy Posturepedic for about $499

Oh my gosh that does help! Thank you! Will make sure to print this out just in case.
Yeah I've heard a lot of horror stories about the Brick. I checked the reviews for our local store and the score was 1 out of 5 based on 7+ reviews I believe it was. So I think we'll skip them.
I don't think I'd be strong enough for that!Insert Clever Signature Here

As long as I will live in Canada, I would never even touch anything made by Ashley - the worst experience ever! Believe it or not it's not only me...this particular furniture has so many negative reviews...I would rather buy Ikea, the price is low, and you know what you're paying your money for.

I would say it doesn't matter where to buy, you know what matters - WHAT to buy! You should decide what particular brand, style, model you prefer to buy and then shop for it. I personally wouldn't buy anything from Sleep Country, they're ridiculously overpriced. I can buy the same item, from another store much cheaper. I would suggest you to check Sears.ca online sales, once every few months they have one day deals, when particular mattresses are sold up to 80% off and you can get unbeatable deal. Don't forget about the Bay, they also have sales all the time, and again from time to time their prices are just unbelievably low. Another store to check is Leons, their deals are pretty good too. Rarely, but the Brick can offer you a deal too. We got our mattress from the Brick a few months ago, it was a midnight madness sale, we got the mattress which retails for $1100 at the Brick ($1450 at the Sleeping Country (!)) for...$299 plus tax. So, even though I don't like the Brick personally, I couldn't pass on that deal.

Ha, I remember going to Ashley once. DH and I felt like we were in a commercial! The 'greeter' guy at the door asks what we're looking for, personally escorts us to the mattress area and to the guy working in that department, says something like, "Joe, this nice couple is looking for a great deal on a mattress set, what do you have to offer them today?" I nearly laughed out loud, and could not take them seriously.

Bay sometimes has mattresses for 70% off.
Try Simmons Beauty rest. The one in my old room at my parents has been around for maybe 25 years and is still so firm and comfy. Worth every penny. Every time I go there I sleep foreverLast edited by torontogal12; Mon, Nov 10th, 2014 at 08:36 PM.

We bought a queen mattress from Costco and a king from Sleep Country in 2009 and a double from Mattress Mart in 2011. The Costco Sealy is the one still in good shape.
I don't think Costco carries king size. I've never seen one in their store.
Our king from Sleep Country is a Kingsdown plush and we paid $999 for the mattress only, on sale. 5 years on and I'm sinking in some parts unless I rotate more often.
**just checked Costco and they have king mattresses online. Will probably buy our king there.Last edited by Jina; Mon, Nov 10th, 2014 at 11:14 PM.
