My partner and I along with our disabled friend (Stroke Victim left Hemiplegic with cognitive deficits) were excited about staying for one night at a Casino Resort in Calgary Alberta. We had arrived late (around 8:00 P.M.), so the first thing we wanted to do was enjoy the Prime Rib Buffet at the hotel which was located just off to one side of the Casino. While we were enjoying the dinner, our disabled friend decided to ask one of the wait staff if he could take a picture with him in it, as he has done on numerous occasions while travelling with us.Because our friend only has the use of one hand, before the worker could answer, his cell phone took a picture. But because the staff member put his hand up in front of the I-phone, the camera took a picture only of his hand. When the staff member told our disabled friend that he did not want his picture taken and there was a picture taken without his permission. My disabled friend then expressed how very sorry he was, and that he was going to delete the picture immediately.(The only picture was of a hand). The staff member left.A few minutes later 3 Security Guards showed up at our table, demanding to see our friend's I-phone.By that time the picture of the staff member's hand had been deleted, which seemed to satisfy the Security Guards. They then left only to return a few minutes later to inform us that the Staff member felt that his Safety was at risk and the General Manager had decided that we were not welcome there and that we had to leave immediately, and this was before we had completed our dinner. We were then escorted by three Security Guards out of the restaurant and out of the Casino. How humiliating! My disabled friend meant absolutely no harm and felt so bad about what had just happened.I tried to reason with the Security Guards outside of the Casino but was told that the General Manager had made the decision and there was no changing it.I was so upset, and soon realized there was no way that we could spend another minute at this Hotel. So I checked us out, even though it meant losing the money that I had paid to stay at the Grey Eagle Resort. Not only did we pay the $75.00 plus for the three meals, but I had to pay for the night we did not stay at the Hotel. The way we were treated was UNFORGIVABLE!!We will NEVER EVER STAY AT THIS PROPERTY AGAIN…AND NOR SHOULD ANYONE ELSE!!!!!!!!!

How terrible you all of you. They should have refunded the hotel stay at the very least.

I would be contacting the manager and the hotel owners. If that didn't get you a refund then I would seriously consider contacting the media.

Sounds like the employee has serious issues or something to hide.

It doesn't matter what the employee's reasons were. Everyone should have the right to refuse having their picture taken by a complete stranger. It sounds like the man with the camera agrees and respected the employee's wishes. What matters is that no one even bothered to listen to him, even after his camera was searched and he was treated like a criminal for absolutely no reason.
You should definitely report this higher up.

It's common for casinos to have no-photo policies for security reasons. You were "located just off to one side of the casino" and taking pics of the casino floor is strictly a no-no at any casino.

    Sorry you didn't know!

Yep, a lot of places will definitely give you the bum's rush for taking pictures in their casino.

I don't think the management or the media will care.

Kudos to you for taking a stroke victim left hemiplegic with cognitive deficits out on date night with your partner though. It should have been a magical night.
