Nope, don't care how much you spend on the card or the present...it's the thought that counts. Sometimes the nicest gifts (I find) are ones that didn't cost that much but had a lot of thought put into them. As for cards, some of the nicest cards I've ever received have been from my Dad who prints them off his computer.

You can't always tell! I have Disney cards and Carlton cards from Dollarama. I picked up several packs of Thank You cards there that are Carlton and have $6.99 wrote on the pack. I picked up the most adorable welcome baby card I have ever seen, just the other day from Dollarama!

I think it depends on the person/occasion
I wouldn't buy my DH a card if it didn`t offer anything extravagant - mind you i`d probably write my own bit in it anyways.
Personally, Cards (for me) last a week after the occasion and then I throw them out - which would be a huge waste of money.

It's not so much the money spent on the card, it's the words that are written inside.

I went out for Valentine Day cards and fell in love with one for my 4 yr old little boy. It was just perfect for him! Flipped it over and saw $5.99. Swallowed hard and took it to the cash, lol. DH will get a less expensive one, lol. I think that was the most I spent on a card, lol.

I buy a 50 pack of plain coloured cards from Chapters for 9.99-14.99 and put a little ribbon on them or so. They look pretty and artsy and I can afford them.
Maybe your Grandma's love language is words of affirmation?
