LOL on the poll, I voted the first one just to be cheeky - can't see buying anything there unless it were junk food.

The one nearest us doesn't have a food section - there's another one across the city, I don't know about that one.

I remember that a lot of SCs bought filler items of "food" (chocolates, chips) when they were trying to get the $5 scratch card redemption last fall.

Funny, CT does car repairs, but also sells laundry detergent and washers and dryers.

I guess they are trying to keep up with the big boys (walmart & Superstore) Zellers grew there food section so I guess - Although I always have trouble using coupons at CT so that would keep me away.

We buy gas at Canadian Tire and use the coupon for bonus Canadian Tire money. Then, when their garden centre is about to close (July) we buy the reduced plants and pay with Canadian Tire money. Our 2 year old CT raspberry bush is still going strong.

Agreed. Food stores are for buying food, CT is for... other stuff. Cars/household/etc.

Centre Mall's CT food section means that it is competing against the Metro grocery store on staples at the other end of the Centre on Barton. There is also a new Shoppers on Barton Street--I know they carry some groceries but cannot remember if the store has freezers/milk coolers too.
It means that residents in the area will have some ways to get basics for less money.
