***Update***
So I know a lot of you have been waiting for an update, so i am happy to let you know that yesterday my DS recieved a letter from Delmonte apoligizing and promising to look into the situation, and letting her know they do indeed value her as a customer. With the letter came 15 Fpc's for any Delmonte or Aylmers product. I am so glad Delmonte has stepped up and shown her that she is a valued customer.
Unfortunately I cannot say the same about Metro
There is still no response from them she has called repeated times now and not one return phone call. Well I say shame on you Metro...you really have shown your true colors

Here's the story. My dear sister and her hubby were shopping at Metro this past week end. I have been riding the buts trying to get them into couponing because I know how tight there budget is, and with 6 kids they really could benefit. She has always felt somewhat embarrassed and shy about using them. But seeing how much I am saving, slowly but surely over the last month or so she has been starting to use the coupons that I have been dropping off to her and starting to pick up a few from stores herself.
This last weekend they were shopping at metro and were stocking up on sales as they always do, when the came across a a display stand for Delmonte fruit snacks. They buy these all the time for the kids lunches and were really happy to find them. They both picked up about 10 each...which really will only last them a month or so. As they were waking away they hear a voice ( display attendant) behind them screaming...you cant have that many coupons, there's no way you would buy that many and then proceeded to RIP the coupons out of both of there hands. My poor sister was shocked and embarassed. She walked away stunned
. She quickly finished her shopping and headed to the checkout, as she was standing there the whole event was just not sitting right with her (of course) So she turned to her hubby and said "This isn't right I am going to go get that lady's name and report her to DeMonte. When all of a sudden she hears from the next check out "Who Me" She turned to find the woman who had ripped the coupons out of her hand. She said yes you and told her how completely inappropriate what she did was.
And that she would like her name and company name to talk to her supervisor. The lady snarled
at her and turned to the cashier and said "the nerve of this bi*tch she stole 300 coupons and is trying to sell them off" ( my sister has never so much as even traded a coupon and only had 10) At this point my sister hubby lost his cool and started to lay into the women
. The manager came over and when they tried to explain to them what was going on they told them they had to leave the store. The asked for this womens name and company and the manager refused saying just give me your name and number and I will pass it in then told them to leave.
So I say at what point did it become ok to treat someone getting coupons like a criminal...to rip coupons out of there hands.
How does a representative treat a customer like this and the store be ok with it? I mean really if she felt they had too many could she not have simply walked up and said I'm sorry mam you can't have that many. And then to call her a thief in front of everyone in line. My poor sister was so mortified I'm sure it will be a long time before she picks up another coupon
So I am wondering if there is anyone here who might know the name of the company that sends out the representatives (for delmonte) or a list that I can start with to figure out what company this woman would have come from?
I just can't stomach the idea of this women out there treating people like this and getting away with it.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Wow, what a sickening story!

Your poor sister. I feel for her so badly.
I think I would've lost my cool. I'm not really good with hiding what I feel. I would've told that biatch where to go and left all my merchandise at the cash for them to put away and gone somewhere else. That's what price matching is for. Screw em'!
I hope she gets over it.
Don't let one bitter piece of crap stop her from saving and providing for her family at a reasonable cost.

maybe you could send an email through the contact us link on the delmonte website. they may be able to pass the message on to someone with access to the representatives schedules and see who was working in the area at the time. you never know they may send you some better coupons than the representative had. if they do the companys gesture may even get your sister back into the couponing.

That is apalling behavior by that chasier. She was sooo lucky that she hadn't tried to pull try that stunt on more seasoned couponers. Then all you know what would hit the industrial fan! Please send my good vibes to your sister and tell her to not stop couponing because of 1 crazed nut job. Better yet, go with one oy us that are not afraid to get a little crazy ourselvers!!!!!!! LOL!

That's just disgusting behavior.
Was it a rep that was setting up a display? Or a metro employee? I'd contact whichever company it was and file a complaint.
Did they get their coupons back or did she keep them? 20 is a lot to use at once, but that's definitely not grounds to be accused of theft

I really think that because of Extreme Couponing the average person thinks couponers are completely immoral weirdos who bend the rules and hoard crap they don't need. I try not to let it bother me. I can't control other people's actions, only my own. If you want to file a complaint, hopefully you can contact Del Monte and tell them the store and time and they can figure out who the rep is.

Yeah, it could be an independent contractor. If so, they should still be able to locate which company and then which employee.

I believe it was a rep but since she refused to give her company name I can only assume. I realize 20 may seem alot but with 6 kids those packs usually only come with 6-8 in a pack so that's really just one day of lunchesper pack. So they were going to get enough for the month.
And no they didn't get the coupons back and in fact when she ripped them out of there hands she took other coupons they had picked up as well like the New McCains copouns. I will add that all the coupons they had (like the McCains ) they also had the items in the cart to use them with and they fully intended to pick up the Delmonte's as well!Last edited by jemwars; Mon, Feb 6th, 2012 at 11:34 PM.
