Thread: A poem for your review
-
Thu, Aug 28th, 2008, 06:10 AM #1
I have recently written a poem after 8 years of writers block.
To celebrate I have decided to post, which I feel is similar to being published, it in a public forum.
This is the first time anything I have written has been seen by more (I hope) than 10 people.
There were two sources of inspiration.
First, Katherine. This is for her.
She has been sent to nudge me off the sidelines and back into the game of life.
I don't know if I want to play again but I am thankful she has made me willing to listen.
Second, a line from the movie August Rush which I will quote badly.
" Every woman should have a poet fall in love with her".
This is proof that one did.
Thank you for your interest and please post how my effort makes you feel.

Blue, Green, Grey
Wide, clear summer sky, early winter morning,
Lit from within, cool amusement.
Joy, pure as your name,
Trusting the source
They conquer.
Bringing eternal youth to every smile,
Swallowing the knowledge of others,
A timeless gaze, wonder at nature's creation,
How not to fall into idyllic reverie?
Antique glass and misty forests,
Faceted reflections of love without envy,
Lush, warm, vulnerable glances,
Speak of love,
Enough but wanting more.
Shedding tears of solace to replace the sorrow,
A wistful look of loss never forgotten,
Words are currency invested with life,
Let them reflect your soul for others to see,
As I do.
Steely denial for the unwise,
Calm in the center of a storm,
Unwavering, focused on the goal,
Not velvet, they pierce and probe,
Searching the truth.
In your eyes,
Words become volumes,
Moments an eternity,
They embrace, devour, encompass, delight and energize,
They offer
Hope

The first and last stanzas were my favourite. Succinct with splendid imagery.
Lovely.

Although I'm not one for poetry, I would encourage you to pursue the art.
Words change lives, even your own.

I really like the poem Shaman. I have been living with writters block almost 10 years now and you just gave me hope of a full recovery. keep them going and don't stop lest writter's block finds you again. it is such a terrible plight for one to contract
I think I am going to run a round outside all naakid and such.... I need a vacation!! Jail house here I come!!!!
