That is quite an experience, glad you can laugh at it ... and for that price cheaper than renting a comedy!
... I'm earning $5-25 Amazon.ca gift cards EVERY month, are you?

P.S. ... starting to hunt for ShoppingChannel GC's with no minimum purchase ...

How is Roots to know you have a large child?

You are ordering an adult size!

Their request seems reasonable to me.

Oh, I never did this when I ordered online for my son. I just paid the tax.
He was wearing adult sizes LONG before he hit 14, so we had to do this everywhere in-person shopping - for years.

It is NOT reasonable to ask for a copy of a passport or a birth certificate for something like this. I asked if I could send a copy of his student ID since that doesn't contain sensitive info, but they won't accept that. FYI: Here in BC, when you shop in person for someone who is under 15yrs, you just need to sign a sheet verifying that the clothing is for someone under that age. I have never heard of ANY store asking for a birth certificate or passport as proof of age.

When requesting the exemption for PST Exemption the stores ask you to fill out a form listing your name/adress/ phone # & signature......No ID required. I have a large boy, he's started wearing mens clothings about 11 12 yrs old and never have I ( at the store level at least) been asked for "proof" of age, even when he's standing next to me towering over me, lol! I'm sure if the government really wanted to they could audit these records the stores keep and go after you if you were lying, but I'm not so no worries.
