I wish there was a reference of prices for products to check so I know whether I am paying too much for an item.

I do have a couple stored in my brain

    Never pay more than:
    $2 for brand name chips
    $3.50 for kids cereal
    $.10 per bottle of water
    $.15 per diaper
$.23 per roll of toilet paper
$1 for a can of apple juice
$1.50 for a loaf of bread

Could we start a database for reference online?

Do you think there would be a lot of variance from one part of the country to another?

cheese is too expensive out west too!

    I think i pay 12cents /roll of TP....

It won't take long for you to figure out what is too much if you keep paying attention to the current flyers in the deal section and any current threads that might point out some great savings. Making sure you use coupons+sale is the biggest part of it all.

I think I usually pay between 10 and 12 cents per roll of toilet paper (no frills usually has it on sale for $4.97 for 40 rolls then I use a $1.00 off coupon)

Milk and cream is alot more expensive on Ontario then in BC. We just moved here 3 weeks ago for DH's military training and it's insane how some prices are sooooo different.

I know in Canada I saw this piece on the news saying that Barrie, ON is one of the cheapest places for things like milk, cheese, meat, etc. My FH's family lives there..grrr.
