I want to buy an IKEA gift card online as a Christmas gift. When I wnet to their website I found out that, regardless of the amount of the card, they charge a $10.25 fee per gift card order, plus taxes!

That seems like a waste of money to me but since I live in Nova Scotia I can't buy one in an IKEA store.

Does anyone know if IKEA gift cards are sold in any other stores - like Walmart or convenience stores?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

I'm not sure, but try calling Shopprs or a Loblaw superstore (not sure which one's are all out east, Atlantic Superstore?) Anyways, they both tend to have extensive gift card displays.

I wanted to buy an Ikea gift card one year for family in Edmonton and we didn't have an Ikea close and I saw that charge. It was outrageous.

Sorry, but I've never seen Ikea gift cards in any stores.

Maybe try phoning their customer service? I would think probably not, since they're so independent, but this post gives a little hope (although seems American):

Otherwise, for that price, I'd try to find a good friend willing to make the trip to the store for you.

    Good luck!

Years ago I had the same issue with LuLuLemon: They wanted $15 to send a gift card. I called their toll-free number to Head Office, and offered to send the envelope myself; they told me that they would still assess the charge because they consider it to be "handling". Of a gift card????

I don't know if their policies changed since then, but I didn't buy the gift card at that time, and have refused to shop there since, even now that there is a store locally. When you admit that you are pretty much trying to screw your customers, you lose them!

Thanks everyone for your answers. I'm going to phone Ikea and the other stores to see. I'll post if I find out anything.
Incidentally, I had the same issue with LuLuLemon but I see now that they are doing FREE shipping ALL the time on everything!! I was amazed - too bad their prices are SO high!
