I guess I will tell my mom and dads story... I think its kinda cute lol
This was back in 1970! My mom was 16 my dad 20
My moms best friend (the bride) was getting married and my dads best friend (the groom) was marrying my moms best friend -confusing much haha-
My parents had never met before, my dad was leaving for Canada in 10 days as well.
They met at the wedding, started talking , danced and my mom said he was the most handsome guy she had ever seen...I guess even more handsome then the guy she was dating at the time haha They started talking etc and saw each other every day until my dad left, my mom was really upset and sad. A few weeks later she gets a letter from my dad and inside was a ring and a note....will you come to Canada and marry me? My mom of course said yes...not really knowing at such a young age what she was leaving behind. She broke it off with the guy she was seeing...she said one evening when she was at a cafe with friends he came over to her removed the ring my dad gave her and said leave this here and come be with me....she said she laughed at him and took her ring back haha later her ex became a famous Serbian singer and one of his first songs was about my mom!
Anyways she came to Canada, but she says as she was walking to the plain she realized she was leaving her family behind and she sat down right in the middle of the tarmac and started to cry. I guess with the excitement of seeing my dad and moving to Canada she never really realized she would be leaving everyone she loved behind.
She ended up going on the plane and I guess its history from there...my mom is a very strong women and her first few years in Canada were very hard for so many reasons. I admire her so much, she is my hero and I hope one day to be just like her...I already see some of her in me hehe

Vee! That's a most incredible story - how sweet! Must have been totally hard for your mom to do - what a leap of faith (and love) she took! And very cool that they met at a wedding of their respective best friends!

We were pretty young (20/21) and working in a crappy call centre. Anyway, we were assigned cubicals next to each other. We made small talk for a couple weeks and then I invited him over to play game cube and eat ice cream. Not much of a date, more of a hang out and see how it goes type thing.
He came over, we played a bit with some remote controlled cars and then sat down to watch stand by me (his choice). All of a sudden he got up and left in the middle of it. I was a bit flabbergasted - of course this made me all the more intrigued (since this is just how I am). Next time I saw him I asked him out again... and now we're married with 2 kids.
Oh, and the best part of the story is that he left mid-movie because he had to poop LOL.

Hubby and I met on a hockey bus trip (tres cliche for small town Saskatchewan) when we were both 14 years old. We were from neighboring small towns, but had never met before. It was total infatuation, but what can you do when you're 14? The odd phone call, it petered out pretty fast.
Fast forward two years, his small school closed down and he ended up coming to my school. We started dating about three days into our grade 10 year, and have been best friends ever since.
We were each others grad escorts, had a beautiful baby exactly 9 months and one week after our high school graduation (!), and got married 2 years later. I've been in love with him for over half of my life...and after 12 years of marriage, and three kids, I thank God every day for the gift of him in my life.
Living proof that young love can last!

My husband was in charge of collecting rent for the first apartment I moved into. His brother was friends with my sister. Just after we started dating, his parents moved and he ended up moving in across the hall from us. So we saw each other ALL the time (he also worked for his parents company which was right downstairs LOL). 9 months after we met we were married.....5 years and 2 children later, we are still going strong (amazing really if you knew all the crap we've been through lol)
