While shopping at Wally's today -- and much to the suprise of myself, the cashier, and the supervisor -- I exceeded the amount of coupons allowed. This was rather humerous because neither the clerk nor the supervisor had encountered it before!
I purchased $187.92 worth of products, and used $81.33 in coupons. The supervisor was called back time and time again as the cashier insisted "you can't get that for free!!" (She wasn't pleasant anymore when I used my Johnson's FPC for a $15.97 basket! One of the few times I've been yelled at by an employee, but I just kept smiling LOL)
My best deals were:
Johnsons FPC 15.97 - 15.97 = free!
3 x Hasbro Games 9.44 - 9.44 = free
2 x motrin 4.27 - 4.7 = free
2 x playtex bottle liners 5.37 - 5.00 = 0.37 each
1 x rice crispies w/ game cash 3.97 - 1.00 = 2.97
4 x fruit loops w/ game cash 3.97 - (2)1.00WUB2 = 3.47 each
In total I used 20 coupons and purchased 60 items. The only things I bought that were not either on sale or I had coupons for were bread, milk, and eggs.
...but that is not all, oh no, that is not all! I spent $106.59 out of pocket at WM + $20 in fuel for my car = 126.59. I planned my route today to include 2 mystery shops for which I will be paid $70. When you subtract this amount from my spending, I got 187.92 worth of products for 56.59! (AND, I have $50 more game cash to spend!!!) Yipeeeee!
A HUGE thank you to all the SCers that share all of their wonderful ideas....I never would have come up with any of this on my own and I have saved HUNDREDS of dollars in the month I've been hanging around here! Now....if someone could please suggest what to do with the 15 boxes of cereal I've accumulated this month...This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Fabulous deals and savings ... I didn't think coupons had a limit (thought it was an urban myth created by cranky cashiers, LOL!) ... glad you stood your ground! I'm wondering what to do with cereal too - now that each box is unopened but has squares cut out where the coupons use to be, LOL!
... I'm earning $5-25 Amazon.ca gift cards EVERY month, are you?
P.S. ... starting to hunt for ShoppingChannel GC's with no minimum purchase ...

i cut the coupons out of the Fruit Loop boxes and still donated 8 boxes to the food bank..they said they can use it for the breakfast program, they feed homeless people during the week...or you can make some marshmellow squares like rice krispie squares but with froot loops or frosted flakes instead, or any cereal for that matter, just follow the rice krispies recipe and substitute the cereal...
I think you did an OUTSTANDING shopping job, and that cranky cashier should get a lesson in cashier manners, you should email the head office about her , or the manager...and WM's coupon limit is $55.00...that isn't much for us Sc'ers, lol!

It was actually the register that put up a stink about exceeding the coupon limit...the supervisor had to come back (again LOL) and manually override it!
Cute little windows on the boxes eh? lol I've been torturing the kids...insisting that they have to finish some of the four open boxes before they can dive into their favorite, the fruit loops! Gave a little though and let them have the three free travel games from today instead of waiting for Christmas. If only I could find the full size games cheap up here. Monopoly scanned at 18.xx, as did most others. The only cheap full size game I could find was mickey mouse yahtzee...

The first few times I got a rise out of a cashier over coupons I was taken aback and frustrated (I've been boycotting my fav grocery store for two weeks because they were rude) but now I'm kinda starting to think its funny! Not sure if I should admit that!
Today was hilarious from my perspective...it was like the cashier went bipolar. At the beginning I said, "I have a bunch of coupons," and she replied very pleasantly, "oh, I don't mind coupons!
" and then the roller coaster of emotion started. The worst flip was over the Johnson's but she was up and down with a few of the other freebies, and I let her win the pringles battle. I had a B2G1 Free for the pringles tubes and a B3G1 sticks free. I still think she should have accepted both, but with the amount I was saving, I decided to let that one fly...and well, her tone was getting nasty! I'd rather not be the one responsible for the employee's psychotic break!

Yea, there's always a limit on these things, it's more of a checks and balance, to ensure that nothin' fishy is goin' on, like how you can't spend more than 500$ on credit card without being asked for ID (sooome places don't enforce this, like grocery stores, but places that sell expensive stuff and it's not hard to rack up 500$ with a couple of items will enforce this, I know Sport Check will).
Also, you can't buy over 1000$ in gc (at least at my Loblaws). I can't think of anything else, but it is all Loss Prevention, not because they want to "curb" coupon use or anything! I think when this happens it's to have the supervisor to check the coupons too? I would assume that's right, I would just run over and give the override...
Great savings btw!

LMAO! Awesome score CouponCacher!
Yes I agree, cashiers get very very jealous when customers get things either for free or a steal [i've seen it first hand]. Even more so when the customer won't tell how they got the coupon or if the sale is over. etc.
Oh well, tough toenails to them!

wtg!...I haven't hit the limit at WM...I think I saw someone post (when I posted before) that it was $50...but I have hit the $10 limit at RCSS/No Frills...most of the cashiers...even though there is a limit...override it themselves?!
I'm back on mat leave...so I hope to be posting more again!...Hazel's a big sister (Feb/09/09) to Lauren (July/06/10)

Great job on the savings!! Doesn't it feel great to see how much you can really save once you put to use the various tips you pick up from members on here?!
As for the extra cereal boxes, I'd certainly consider donating them to the food bank. As others pointed out, if the wax paper bag is intact I don't see why the food bank wouldn't accept them. You can always call and ask. If that doesn't work why not check with local schools which may have breakfast programs and may be able to use the cereal?

Good deals!! Way to go.
The cereal is the same at our house this week. Thanks to SC'er Pvillemummy, I scored 10 boxes of Shreddies for $1.25 each at Loblaws on Wednesday!
I'll be making Bits and Bites anyway, so now I will make more batches.
