In terms of things to do, here's what I can think of to visit (some are free certain evenings).
CBC Museum (history of broadcasting in Canada, kinda neat):

If you like art, AGO (20% off coupon in the Attractions Ontario booklet):

There's the Royal Ontario Museum:

If you like ceramics (it's quite lovely, actually, last time I was there I saw the history of chocolate pots), the Gardiner Museum is fun:

Have fun on your trip!

Actually, I just checked the GO Transit website myself. The cost is about $32 total per person round trip. That's about the same price as Greyhound Canada or a bit more.

I've heard about casino buses for free or really cheap but I don't know.

Coach Canada has Toronto to Niagara Falls (Casino Fallsview).
This is what says on their website:
- Must be 19 with Government issued photo ID
- No baggage or backpacks
http://www.coachcanada.com/coachcanada/ = approx. $50 round trip so this has to be passed up since it's a bit steep.Last edited by madeinczech; Thu, Jul 30th, 2009 at 03:19 PM.

how long will you be there?
if the hotel doesn't charge for parking than you may be able to rent a car to get from the airport to the hotel and then to get to niagra falls. its qucker and quite possibly cheaper than paying fees/tickets X 2. check hotwire for a car rental or pm me for a code for budget rent a car. i got a great deal for a 1 week rental and i didn't even go with the cheapest option.

The strike is supposedly over, so the ferry should be running. It's about $6 to go over to the island, but it's the prettiest view of Toronto you'll ever see. If they're still on strike, come visit me at the Distillery & I'll take you up to my roof top for the second nicest view of Toronto's skyscrapers.

That works, but I would instead recommend taking the 192 to Kipling Station, then the subway to St. George station, then transfer to the southbound University/Spadina subway to Union Station. From Union Station, ride the streetcar (doesn't matter if it's the 509 or 510) 1 stop to Queens Quay/Ferry Docks.
This will maximize time on the subway, which is faster and air conditioned.
