Expired on: Mon, Feb 1st, 2010I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this information, but I wanted to share this information with everyone ...
I logged into the HBC Rewards site this morning, to check on my points balance. There was a message on the main page, advising that they are phasing out the merchandise reward component of the program. The HBC Rewards catalogue issued May 2009 will be expiring on January 30, 2010, but products will only be available while quantities last. The notice stated that gift cards and Apple products will continue to be available for redemption.
I usually redeem my HBC Rewards points for HBC gift cards, but thought I would post this information in case anybody redeems their points for merchandise.Last edited by Sniffasale; Sat, Jan 2nd, 2010 at 10:56 PM. Reason: End date was originally posted as Jan. 31/10 - correction to Jan. 30/10 (sorry!)

Thanks for the info. You can also turn your HBC points into Airmiles thru HBC. Mine automatically become Airmiles, which I redeem for Shell gas coupons or movie tickets.

wow I checked my balance I have 91,000+ points...lol
but to be all honest I did not see that message anywhere I looked when I logged on or in their terms & conditions...until I refreshed the site and I noticed it said the catalogue to 2009 yet in their terms and conditions that...it says the may 2009 catalogue will expire in may 2010...so they could be on the hook for a loop hole there...Last edited by greentires4me; Thu, Dec 31st, 2009 at 08:46 PM.

I save mine up for Trade & Save anyway, I always found the items in the catalogue cost WAY too much... but 80,000 points = $10 off your purchase any time you want to. You can do it more than once on the same purchase - I redeemed 400,000 points when I bought my Wii Fit before Christmas, to get $50 off it.

Do your points ever expire?
I Love you; not for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you.

I'm not sure if the points ever expire. I've never had any expire, but I usually redeem them fairly quickly for gift cards. I haven't seen any expiry date when I log in to check my balance.

I've been collecting points for ages and as far as I know they've never expired.
I don't make big purchases at Zellers so it takes forever for me to actually earn points. I redeemed points once, for a Zellers gift card and used the money toward purchase of a watch. As others have pointed out, the various items in the catalogue usually cost way too many points so I've never redeemed for catalogue items; then again I don't have enough points for the "good stuff", lol.

My MIL tried signing onto her account but it wasn't letting her. She hasn't used the card in a while so maybe that's why. She's going to have to give them a call next week to work it out, she's got about 400,000 points so good for a $50 GC I think. She figures she might as well redeem them now. Thanks for the info, I'll pass it onto her
I have started a new venture with South Hill Designs (customizable lockets and bracelets). Check out my website to learn more

It's probably because shipping costs keep increasing. I don't mind though. I've never liked their rewards catalogue and have only ever ordered gift cards.
