yes, that is true, but you also do not get SDM points for the purchase either.
If it is a FPC the cashier will enter code #2002 and then the coupon amount. This code means, no points and no tax.
I used the "Buy 2 get $5 off" John Freida coupon today and because the item cost was $4.99 she tried to enter it with the #2002 code, but I caught her and corrected her to enter it as code #2001 which gives you points (in my case 20x the points today). While the coupon did make the product free, it was not a FPC and should be entered as code #2001. I did not mind paying the tax in order to get 20x the points. It would have saved $.64 in taxes vs. getting $2.99 in points - I'll take the pointsLast edited by mydusty; Sat, Jan 2nd, 2010 at 06:49 PM.

I used the john freida $5 off coupon wub2 products and they only took $4.99 off because that's how much the store is selling them for. SDM is horrible for taking coupons for me anyway, most of the time, they are hesitant to use them and make up their own rules.
As for fpc, I made a thread about tax on fpc a little while ago, I've heard that sdm doesn't charge tax on fpc's, but I have a hard enough time using any coupons so I don't bother, use them where I know they will be accepted, like walmart. And I 99% of the time always pay tax on fpcs.

i have the opposite experience. for me, sdm has always been good about taking coupons, but walmart is horrible. they can't tell the difference between something being printed and something being photocopied. it's not worth the hassle to argue with them that a coupon was printed and not photocopied.
and yes, to the OP's original question. you shouldn't get charged taxes on a fpc. if you want to make sure that you haven't been, just ring your fpc item through in a separate transaction.

me too JUNEROSE, sdm has always been good to me. i got the points on the fpc of full price plus no tax also, i bought lots of stuff with fpc and got points.
but walmart is also very good till now. i bought 2 j&j bastket $19.99 each. they never argue. i also love them, sometimes i get to combine 2 offers in each product.

they have to put in the code 2002 to not add tax, while 2001 is the normal coupon code.

SDM has always taken my FPCs and cpns and never charged me tax.
WalMart has charged me taxes because that specific FPC stated (she read the fine print lol) that customer shall pay taxes. Not all FPC'S state that though.<center></center><center></center><center></center><center></center><center></center>http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/FreebieChick
