At Christmas I bought my husband a pair of jeans that were on special for only $10 - the WalMart Penmans brand. They were too long, so today we took them back to get exchanged...well, of course, they don't have the correct length in the black jean, but did in the dark blue denim ones. When we took them to the Customer Service counter, they wanted to charge us the difference in the purchase price because they were no longer on sale. They originally cost me $10 and now they wanted an additional $11 and change. They are the exact same jean, brand, style etc - just not the same colour.
Shouldn't this of been a straight forward exchange? Regardless of the price - they weren't on clearance or anything, it was just an instore special that I happened across.
I'm going to contact the WalMart head office, but before I do, I wanted more reasonable heads to prevail. Tell me - are they wrong, or am I?This thread is currently associated with: WalmartLast edited by puddin57; Sat, Jan 16th, 2010 at 07:36 PM.

I would try returning/exchanging them without the receipt. If they are both have the same UPC then you shouldn't have a problem this way. If they are different but are both the same price now they should exchange them for you. Just make sure you try when a different CSR is working of if there is any way you could go to a different location that would be better. If all else fails just ask to talk to the customer service manager.

Thanks for the advise. We were at a different store (had gone to visit my father-in-law) and the SCM was present. We were so flustered that we just took a cash refund. But not having the receipt definately would of helped (I think), especially when it's their own brand name. But for once in my life, I was actually on the ball and really did keep the receipt from Christmas (so easy to loose when there atre so many!! LOL)
I think the policy they're following is wrong. It should of been a straight exchange (unless it's a clearance "as is" item). But because it was a sale price on the receipt, they still wanted to charge me the full price (or rather the difference between the two)

I worked retail for 5 years....it does not matter what you paid even id it was $1 or full price its a straight exchange and you should by no means have to pay the difference. You are not getting a different pair there the same. Someone obviously doesn't know the exchange/return policy.
Sorry for the late response just saw this post
