I have SCOP'd before but I have never had this issue. I went to SDM and the sale tag on the shelf for the Nestea said 2/$7.99 so I got the four on the shelf. Of course it rang up at $6.99 each and after they checked they corrected the price. I asked for SCOP and first the cashier didn't know what I was talking about and then she said it didn't count because I had to pay for the items to get SCOP.
???? I thought that's why it's called the SCANNING code not the You Must Pay For It First code!
After contacting SDM HO(what a joke!) they said that it didn't qualify for SCOP since it was a sale tag that had the expiration date for the sale on it. Then they told me that it was only a nice gesture on the stores part to give it to me for that price. That can't be cause we all know SDM aint nice
. So, who is right and who is wrong here. I looked it up but didn't see anything proving SDM right. Any insight would be great

Last time I tried to SCOP something at SDM the cashier told me something about the sale tag too, and would only override it to the price on the tag. On the SCOP signs it says if the display or advertised price is higher it's free, therefore what she was saying made no sense. I took the override price because I wanted the item. I emailed HO and the manager of the store called me to tell me to come back and get a refund because I was right. Of course when I went back I got the same cashier as the previous visit who still said the same thing but gave it to me anyway since I only came since I got a call. I don't get what they're policy is. At other stores SCOP doesn't get cancelled out because it was last weeks sale sticker. I don't really understand it, maybe they should pay more attention to the price tags if they don't want to give things away for free

Hey Harbie!
Even though the sale was over, if their price tag was still on the shelf...to my understanding...they should have SCOP'd it since they did not take the tag down...see what I highlighted below.
my two cents!
1. THE ITEM FREE SCANNER POLICY
Retailers will implement an Item Free Scanner Policy as follows:
1.1 On a claim being presented by the customer, where the scanned price of a product at checkout is higher than the price displayed in the store or than advertised by the store, the lower price will be honoured; and
- (a) if the correct price of the product is $10 or less, the retailer will give the product to the customer free of charge; or
(b) if the correct price of the product is higher than $10, the retailer will give the customer a discount of $10 off the corrected price.

i think the scop has to do with the scan system so if its a scan system error than you would get a scop... but because it is a staff error by not taking down the old sign... and has an expiry date to prove that its an old sign that it doesnt count ....but if there is no expiry than they have to give it to you as a scoop

Previous posters are corrent. It doesnt matter if the sale had ended, the onus is on the store to make sure their signage is up to date.
You should have got one case free (plus deposit)

Yeah I would call the SCOP line.
I've only SCOP'd once but well worth it. Sobey's had the wrong price for TP up and boy was the Customer Service girl pissed at the clerks for not taking the signs down.Don't forget to click the green up arrow if you like someones post!
