depends on the place, i once had this happen and because it was all different upcs they gave them as different SCOPs and two times since that happened they just said one item free and i said OK and left, didnt want to argue!

It doesn't depend on the place. If they follow the SCOP policy, then it goes by the SCOP policy. Different stores don't have different polices--it's all the same. If you are told differently (ie: diff upc's don't matter)... nicely argue and if they won't budge, speed dial the SCOP Hotline # and leave a msg infront of them explaining the situation. Leave your name and number and they should call you back!

Can you perhaps copy and paste the email or scan it up so we can print it for future referencing material?
I think I misinterpreted it...I thought you got an email from SCOP

Nope. I got an email from Safeway where they misinterpreted the SCOP.

I had the same situation at WM -2 diff UPC, got 1 scope - phoned SCOPE Hotline and was told UPC doesnt matter because it is same family product. So 1 Scope it is

I had 4 products SCOPed at WM.... 2 St Ives scrubs (one with syslic acid, one without--two diff UPCs), clean and clear cleanser, and another beauty item. Called SCOP, left a msg, someone got back to me saying that yes, EVERY unqiue upc code scanning in wrong is SCOP. Their policy states that. you got jipped.

It IS different UPC codes = each first one free. They said that they will be calling Safeway to let them know that they are misinterpreting SCOP.

Got a call from a manager from Safeway's Head Office with an apology, and asked that I go into the store to get a refund and to pick up a GC as an apology for the hassle that I got.

That's all very nice of them, but it's not so much the $2 extra that I had to pay, it was the way that the cashier had treated me. I wished that they had addressed that when I initially contacted them instead of focusing just on the SCOP.
Glad to hear everything got sorted out, but it's a shame the cashier had to act like that towards you. Some cashiers think they can make up their own rules, and it's sad that we have to go through all the trouble we do in order to prove a point.

I'm also quite amazed at how some SC'ers treated you in regards to your calling said cashier "b!tchy" ...
But on the other hand, there are some wonderful, helpful members here who are quite knowledgeable about the whole SCOP process, and I learned something new in this thread! And for that, THANK YOU!!!!!!
