Lap 21 -- The top-five are currently Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano, Greg Biffle and Dave Blaney. Dave Blaney? Yep. Go get 'em, Dave!

Lap 24 -- Matt Kenseth couldn't hang on to teammate Greg Biffle's draft, and he's dropped to ninth. Kenseth is having trouble with his car overheating.
Lap 23 -- Hold on there, Dave. Dave Blaney has slipped to ninth place. Move Greg Biffle to the front of the pack.

Lap 26 -- Greg Biffle and Kyle Busch are side by side for the lead coming off Turn 4.

Lap 27 -- Throw a blanket over most of the field. They're two by two for several rows back. Greg Biffle and Kyle Busch are the leaders.

Lap 30 -- The race has reached the halfway point. So far, so good -- there have been no cautions.
Lap 29 -- Greg Biffle has taken over the lead, with the outside line dropping back.

Lap 31 -- Kenny Wallace, struggling to make the field for the Daytona 500, has an engine that appears to be bogging down.

Lap 33 -- Regan Smith has picked his way up to third place, and Elliott Sadler is fourth. Score one for the underdogs!

Lap 36 -- Leader Greg Biffle is reporting debris in Turn 2, but officials don't see it.
Lap 34 -- According to timing and scoring, the top speed in this race is an astounding 206.04 mph by Kurt Busch.

Lap 38 -- Kenny Wallace is dropping onto pit road. He had been warned by NASCAR to maintain a safe speed. His team goes into the trunk, trying to figure out a fuel-pressure problem.
Lap 37 -- Regan Smith, still in third place, has some sort of vibration.

Lap 47 -- Joey Logano, running sixth, has moved a car length or two ahead of teammate Kyle Busch.
Lap 46 -- Kyle Busch and Joey Logano are drafting, and Busch is not happy with his car. It might have an engine problem.
Lap 44 -- After the cycle of green- stops, Greg Biffle is the leader. Regan Smith is second, followed by Jimmie Johnson, Elliott Sadler and Matt Kenseth.
Lap 43 -- Greg Biffle, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne and Regan Smith get their cars serviced.
Lap 42 -- Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano and Kyle Busch are taking tires and fuel. Kurt Busch will receive a pass-through penalty.
Lap 41 -- Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, Martin Truex Jr. and others roll down pit road.
Lap 40 -- Bobby Labonte, Bill Elliott, Joe Nemechek and a few others back in the pack are pitting.

Lap 52 -- Jimmie Johnson goes up the track in fourth place, but maintains control.
Lap 51 -- What year was it that Regan Smith ... and then Tony Stewart ... won at Tallladega? It's deja vu all over again!
Lap 50 -- Ten laps to go. Greg Biffle is second, with Regan Smith, Jimmie Johnson, Elliott Sadler and Matt Kenseth in third through fifth.

Lap 53 -- Team owner Jack Roush has never won a Daytona qualifier. Really? Greg Biffle's at the front right now.

Lap 55 -- Single file at the front. Who's going to make the first move?

Lap 56 -- Nope. Nobody's making a move yet.

Lap 60 -- CHECKERED : Matt Kenseth goes around teammate Greg Biffle for the lead. There's a huge scramble going into Turn 3, but everybody keeps going. Jack Roush gets his first qualifier win, but it's not Biffle.
Lap 58 -- Matt Kenseth has help from Jimmie Johnson on the outside. They're making huge progress.
