detergent for baby clothes

i used sunlight sensitive.. i couldn't warrent the $$$ for ivory snow

I used baby purex, it works ok, ivory snow works better but is pretty pricey IMO

i use the tide or presidents choice "free" liquid.
it is perfume and dye free. those are 2 major irritants.
even after using that, i would set the wash for an extra rinse. then i wouldn't use any softener. i don't use softener anymore anyways.

Or use vinegar in the rinse, helps clean off any detergent and acts as a softener

Me too. I thought Ivory Snow was highly overrated!

does anyone use fabric softener or is this a no-no ... im starting to wash all of babies clothes tomorrow so would be great if ppl could give me their thoughts

I *think* that commercial fabric softeners interfere with fire ant that is often part of children's sleepwear.

Also, I'd advise you not to wash it all now! I made that mistake; we didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl, and ended up having FOUR baby showers! So I had a bunch of newborn clothing all washed and ready - and delivered a 10 pound 8 ounce newborn who didn't fit into most of it!

Certainly get some of it ready, but for the rest, leave the tags on and see if you actually need it first.

I started with Ivora Snow when DS was born, and only used it for a few months...now we use the Kirkland brand from Costco (same thing we use in our clothes) and he has no problems with it. Also leaves it smelling soooo good (best smelling detergent I think, by far! )

I use Purex baby. I found the ivory snow to actually cause my baby to itch!

i used regular detergent and regular fabric softener. nothing fancy! the clothes turned out fine for my kids. no reactions, no allergies.

i'm the one who is pretty sensitive with everything, that's why i have to take allergy meds for my hives that can get really bad.

I started with the Ivory Snow but didn't like it. So I switched to the Baby Purex and loved it. DD never had any allergic reactions and I loved the smell of it. Now I use the Baby Purex to wash my towels and sheets etc also. I just love the smell. lol
