National Day of Remembrance: Today marks the anniversary of the day in 1917 when Canadians stormed Vimy Ridge during WWI. The amazing victory through tremendous sacrifice is just awe-inspiring.
The numbers: The battle was the first time all four Canadian divisions came together. 3,597 Canadian men died; 10,600 were injured.

Books of remembrance will be available in some cities at Legislature buildings; otherwise you may leave a message online if you so choose:

I was watching it before noon. So sad no veterans left now. The commentator was saying the equivalent death toll would have been 250,000 by todays numbers and the wounded in the millions.
